how often do you clean

Mine are indoor piggies and are bedded on fleece in their cage, but spend 3-4hrs every day in their indoor run which is just lined with thick newspaper. The paper in the run is changed every day and the base wiped with disinfectant and then once a week the base gets a soapy water clean as the newspaper does tend to leave print marks. In the cage the poops are removed 2-3 times were day and the fleece and cosies are washed twice per week. Once a week the cage base is cleaned with soapy water and disinfectant. Hay is in racks in the cage so doesn't get weed on. In the run hay is just on the floor so anything left when they go back in their cage at night is thrown away 'cos it's usually been soiled. In the cage they have a litter tray which is changed every 2 days. I have 2 girls and there is absolutely no smell whatsover washing the fleece twice per week, but then I understand girls to be less smelly than boys.

i do a full clean about once a week but sometimes they smell after 5 days so I do it early, I do scoop out the soiled hay everyday or every other day at the least as I find that hay that has been wee'd on is very stinky!

I have been poop scooping twice a day, and picking up poop when it looks bad ie a lot in one place.

We have had the piggies since Saturday night so these first few days have been spent watching where they are pooping to see if litter training is possible.

They have beening pooping in four of the corners, so we got four corner litter trays from PaH for those corners, and I spent today using the last of the zorb to make some mats to go in the litter trays and under their waffle block houses as we saw that they love to poop in there.

We have also hoovered a couple of times to get the hay and hair off the fleece.

We did a full fleece change today (after 3 full days), but I am expecting the next one to be longer as we have addressed some of the poop issues.

However it doesn't matter as washing the fleece is easy and they dry quickly.

The cozies and tunnels we have in there get washed every day or two depending on condition.

We have also noticed that there is no smell apart form hay! What a relief - although my daughters have both heard Bramble farting! :(|)

Are we allowed to say the 'F' word? :(|):(|):(|)
I think your daughter's need a dog, then they can blame him for their indiscretions rather than your cute little piggies. rolleyes x

when are you booked in with the vets Sue P?

Sounds like some anti-biotics and pain relief are needed.

He's got baytril again but it didn't work the last time my rodents were ill.

TBH with the hellish time I have getting medicine into Fudge I dunno if it's even worth giving medicine.

We must have been wrestling for a good 20 minutes the other night and he just refused to let the syringe near his mouth.

He just screamed and screamed and fought like mad and I was getting very agitated.

I got most of it in eventually but each time I try giving medicine he's in danger of being hurt in the struggle and after the last big struggle he collapsed.

I think it was pure exhaustion.

He carried on eating though, he collapsed in the pile of grass I'd just cut in preparation for an after-medicine treat.

around 2-3 time in one week, depending on weather if its nicer and they out more they not in they cage to make a mess so its twice a week but if the weather **** and they havnt been out much them 3 times in a week.

At the moment I clean mine out once a week but our boy piggy is a wee bit stinky so I think I will have to increase it. Currently they are on shavings but when my bale is finished I am thinking of going onto fleeces.

I have upp'ed my cleaning to every 2nd day for a complete clean and fleece/vetbed changeover with poop uplifting every day.....since 2 became 5 theres much more poop and wee to contend with though.....
