I’m going for a one week holiday from friday afternoon to Thursday afternoon. On Wednesday morning a woman will come to feed them and refill their water. I will leave them with a huge bowl of veggies , a huge bowl of pellets and hay each for 1 cage( 2 pigs in one cage). Do you think this is fine?

Unfortunately not. Pigs need a constant supply of hay at the very least i.e. topped up daily. Pigs will only eat fresh hay so no matter how much you put in they won't graze all week on it.

Plus if you give them a weeks portion of nuggets and veg in one go they'll just eat it and you run the risk of bloat.

Could you ask the lady to come every day? Or ask a neighbour?

My neighbour comes in at least once a day when we are away. Most of the time it is 2 or 3 times. Her OH is a taxi driver and it all depends when his shifts are as to when they can come over. She doesn't like coming in on her own.

Goodness no. Like everyone else says, they will only eat the whole lot and then let with nothing. I think we've all had this dilemma as a newbie piggy owner. They don't go without a day unless they are checked out.

Is this a late April fool
. pls pls don't as you are doing so many things wrong. Theirs feeding bowls with lids on and timers or friends or somewhere else to look after them. pls think.

Piggies need to eat constantly to keep their guts moving. You will need someone to visit at least once each day tomprovide fresh hay, water, pellets and vegetables. Please don’t leave them with a pile of veg/hay/pellets/water as these will spoil or be binged upon.

Please do not leave your piggies with no one to look after them. If you have a friend/neighbour/relative to see and feed them while you are away, please make sure they are going to tend to them at least once EVERYDAY. You cannot leave them unattended or unchecked for a day. Their food would need to be refilled everyday or if's either they will eat it all or the food will get spoiled.

We are going for a holiday overseas from next Saturday for 15 days and we made sure that my 3 piggies will be in a safe guinea pig boarding who knows how to handle and look after them (I do still worry a lot about them regardless though). I would never leave them to their own devices. They do get sick so easily and I would regret it if something bad happens to them because I didn't plan on their welfare while I'm away.

We usually leave them with my in-laws unless there are potential health problems that we know they cannot handle (and we also do not want them to worry a lot). At the moment, Bunny will be going for an operation to remove bladder stone tomorrow and it only leaves us a few day of aftercare so we really needed an experienced boarding to handle the aftercare themselves. I'm just glad we found one and the guys are so accommodating and understanding already with all my upcoming demands for Bunny. I do wish nothing bad would happen during our holiday.
