Been out today, any updates on the guinea in a hammy cage?
My offer to pay the £10 if anyone can get the guinea out of there and get it into a rescue space still stands. I feel stuck as I can't get there without a car:{

Piggy is now safe ;)

i have never had hamsters but my auntie used to, how could you even say that is for guinea pigs when my aunties hamster had a cage 10 times bigger then that :{. Poor guinea pigs, who's owner actually bought that for them

As much as I would love to take the credit, this has nothing to do with me. Although I have met the little piggy and he is lovely, even if he is a little battered and bruised.

Oh thank goodness. Well done whoever got him out of there.

It's good to see the little fella will now be properly cared for.

As for the £33 Ebay cage. Nobody's bought it. I know because I was the winning bidder. Since I created a new Ebay account to do it I've got to wait 5 days before I can leave any feedback then I'll give 'them both barrels.

I'm a bit dissapointed it only got to £33, was hoping it would be a lot more just to add to the sellers disapointment.

Ebay didn't seem to be doing anything so I took matters into my own hands.

Piggy is now safe ;)

I am so,so pleased to hear that Vicky, he had been in my mind ever since seeing him on the dreaded gumtree yesterday. I'd said to my Mum tonight that if no one could have him I'd have to try and find someway of getting to Aldridge and he could of had the spare 4 foot hutch outside.

Horrible that he is battered and bruised?

The poor chap will have a great life from now on:)

If whoever got him out wanted to PM me - I would still pay the £10 if they need it as said I would if it helped get him out to safety.

It may sound a bit silly, but how do you suppose he has got battered and bruised, was he a cruelty case, apart from the small cage? Poor little fella is safe now and on to better things, hope he lives a long happy life.

It could be a cruelty case or might be from moving round that cage - if he turned round or moved a bit in any direction he would have hit the bars?

I'm sure there might be an update be nice to hear how he is getting on and see some photos maybe.

Hello everyone - well it was me :(|)

This really isnt something I thought I would do (or rather OH would allow me too!) but he said just go and get him so... I contacted Vicky first, she had tried but they werent interested as she has to have people sign the animals over...so I got through and went over straight away. The poor poor mite is battered and bruised because the woman didnt have her hand under the cage and the bottom fell out! he must have fallen from about the third stair up as she brought him down from upstairs!! I was left outside so couldnt quite see. Anyway he now has a broken tooth and a slightly bloody foot! I have put him in an indoor cage for now but he really is terrified.

I just went to check on him and he is lying down hidden in a carrier in the cage. I will sort some photos just now but theres not much to see as hes in hiding bless him and I dont want to scare him anymore tonight. Ill check on him through the night make sure hes ok. Hes just gorgeous. The story was he was in a guinea pig cage (stupidly small one I think) but the son wanted a tortoise so....they put him in the hamster cage and the tortoise in the guinea pig cage!

I'm so glad I read this post today, I'm so glad I could help him xx

I thought it was a hamster cage! I'm sure I've seen the same one on Amazon.

So glad you managed to rescue the poor little guy.

Hope he makes a speedy recovery! Give him some nose rubs from me when he's all settled in.

As I said in my PM thanks so much for getting the little guy out and to a safe loving home:) so good to know he is safe!

Hope he settles - will take him time.

Keep us posted on how it's going

Thanks Alison x

have a look what ive just found on prelovedrolleyesrolleyesrolleyes
http://www.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction-adverts.showadvert/index-1033955382/efdf01a6.html

looks like some poor animal will end up having a horrid life if its sold :(

Words fail me:{:(
I just have to keep thinking of positive things like how safe Pipin will be now.

I have had such an argument recently in the large pet store not too far away as I overheard an assistant suggesting a Zoozone cage as suitable for 2 rabbits:a19: I spoke to the couple outside who had no rabbit experience - am hoping they went for the ideas I gave them about accomodation and speaking to rescues and did not buy from the shop. The staff did not seem bothered by what I was saying, but that does not suprise me, I don't buy supplies in there but do look at the animals if passing, it's not the best of places.

I don't think I dare go on preloved/gumtree:{

It says that the advert has been archived now, does that mean it has been removed. The only good thing to do with that cage is put it in the skip!pow-pow

Just saw this thread and been looking around ebay to see the other cages or runs that really look too small for a guinea pig.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/48-GUINEA-PLA...all_Animals&hash=item3a63d03996#ht_2675wt_794

Here is an example of one I saw which just looks big enough to fit one piggy and no more. Don't even think there is much room to run around in it either (correct me if I am wrong, I am not yet a guinea pig owner, yet I know what size they are through pictures and seeing them in pet stores).

If I was a guinea pig, I wouldn't want to be housed in something that small.
They can't behave like a normal guinea pig in that. The bigger the better I think, have you researched about C+C cages, build them as big as you want to.

Guinea pigs, despite their body shape love running around, C & C cages are excellent for this. Keep an eye on the forum as people usually post when they find the grids at a good price as they can be difficult to come by sometimes. The minimum size is 4 x 2 for two piggies, someone please correct me if I am wrong though! Also if you get bored of the cage you can play around and change it too which is fun! The best part about a C and C cage for me is that it is open topped so it just feels a little less cage like to me xox

I'm jealous of the two story cages... I can't find those in Canada.

I have this run, its 4ft x 2.5ft and is fine for a quick run about, when my three girls were smaller I had them in this, then I got a bigger run so my now 4 piggies have lots of space for grass time.

OMG that run looks smaller than the carrier i use to transport my guinea pigs, it is ridiculouslly tiny, they wont even have room to turn around in there let alone run

Same here, I use my carrier to give my two somewhere to rest after a busy morning munching grass. :))
