You just wash it with water or use something to disinfect? (Like chlorine, vinegar, iodine, any product...)

I use a product and when I don't have that, I use chlorine, like 1 - 3 drops per liter (if I'm going to eat veggies or for my guinea pigs). But I don't know why I feel insecure, so that's why I'm asking, ha, ha. Obviously after one certain time, I wash all the veggies very well.

If your tap water is good quality and you don't normally have to boil it before you can use it, it should be fine to wash your veggies in I would have thought. I try to get organic veg for my piggies when I can.

If you really want to use a cleansing or disinfecting product on your veg, then Milton sterilising liquid should be safe for piggies. It is sold for use on food and baby utensils and does not have to be rinsed off- though I would anyway. Often what is safe for babies is safe for piggies. Always read the label!

The water in Britain is safe, so rinsing under the cold water tap is not a problem.

If you are not happy with your local water supply in Mexico, I would recommend to use a baby bottle disinfectant. This is safe for guinea pigs, too. But if you do not have to treat the fresh fruit or veg you are eating, you don't have to do it for your guinea pigs.
