Help for Peppa

They don't always touch one another but generally really love to sleep maybe an inch apart. If one gets up so does the other, they seem to do everything together.. which is super cute..

Thankyou again I will try to worry less about boredom then and more on a healthy diet and lifestyle..

And just to remember to give them lots and lots of hay...

Hi @Peppa+Delilah . . Wow you been receiving some great help and advise off @Piggies&buns @Siikibam . .
I'm sure piggies will calm down. .. .
Food wise. .Lol. . What they love is generally little of what they are allowed. . Like hoomans. . .
Last week gave my 4 a little bit of celery and was like the devil food. . .. ran away from it. . so fine i put it in a bucket for throwing away. .. yesterday gave um a little and they loved it. Lol. Fussy or What
Fresh Hay and love is best. .

We bought farm bale £5 and nice and green compared to what they had before... However I cannot afford those expensive Hays that are like £20 for 2 kilos my girls would eat me out of house and home 🤣

I live in a village and had bags hay left for me. . At my door . . In back yard etc.
. I'm very very grateful but I don't use any. It's far far too rich . . It's for cattle and their tummys can handle it. .
My piggies sleep on cheap hay and eat Timothy Hay.

What hay are you buying for £20 at 2kg?

Can't afford this... And all these sorts of premium hay are same price, even oxbow etc are super expensive... The meadow hay seems to be ok for the piggies with lots of people on line saying they do exactly the same... Sure if you have spare money... But I don't have that considering the girls would eat it all in about 2 weeks ish

You could try getting a bale from a farm if you’re able. Are you sure that’s not for 5kg? If it’s haybox I bought their meadow hay. Sooooo sweeeeet! It smelt really good and the piggies liked it. But it’s too...fluffy for my liking. I can’t think what the word is!

Yes this is what I did local farm shop gets it from the local farm and at £5 per bale for very reasonable hay I can't go wrong as piggies do like to seem to waste alot of hay.. sleeping on, peeing on pooping on running through, trying to fling a few bits on my floor 🤣.... They are brilliant though can watch them for hours...

Maybe on their birthday I'll get them a really expensive box as a I love you guys treat... But apart from that farm hay it is...

This is mostly meadow hay as it's a bit softer and less stabby... They didn't seem to like the Timothy much but I always put in a handful every 4-5 days... But it's hardly to touched... Maybe pooped on to show their disapproval 🤣🤣🤣

Waste is part of piggy ownership and can’t be cut back I’m afraid.

I know and I accept that... I'm a little OCD... Which is good and bad in equal measure but I wouldn't allow the piggies to go without which is why it was very important to get a nice big bale of hay then for that money they can have new hay every day twice or three times if they like and will still last ages

Goes along way from when I was a kid and used to look after my cousin's guinea pigs with them it was eat what's in your bowl which would be filled right up, with muesli right the way to the brim, no toys, no enrichment Etc only cuddles if you didn't get scratched to death 🤣🤣🤣...

Only got changed weekly or twice weekly as far as I'm aware but this is going back about 20 years... Everything has come along so much over the years and I'm sure things will keep getting better and better as long as guinea pigs are their funny greedy selves and we love them enough to carry on being their devoted owners...

I used to have farm hay bales, they were very reasonably priced, but the quality was sometimes not great. I used it primarily as bedding, although they did Of course eat it too, and they did have oxbow hay as they wouldn’t touch cheaper (but still good quality) pet shop bags which I got as their feeding hay.
The farm shop then closed down so I switched to Haybox following the recommendations on here. Best hay I have ever come across in 30 years of having hay eating animals!

I try to balance between quality and price... obviously for me I know that hay is a huge and important part of their diet and trying to get them to eat as much as possible is very important...

The girls seem to hate shop bought meadow and will only touch the smallest bit of Timothy as it seems to be to stalky for their liking... However it will still be offered as I know it helps for keeping teeth in check.

I love the fact that with the farm shop hay I am getting reasonable quality hay and they can have as much as they like... Like last night all the unused hay in their racks and additional fresh hay went into making their bed/ munching space.... They loved it, the girls spent hours exploring munching and popcorning together.... It's a mix of lovely green hay( leaves and stalks with some more gold colour too but understand this is normal for the farm hay.

If the quality of the hay drops then i will look at getting some other hay... I have noticed eBay has farm fresh hay that is about £6-7 for 2-3kgs... So a huge price increase but worth it if the girls are happy and healthy... Then we can always check the hay from the farm shop as I know since hay is a natural material it varies depending on how well the crop was etc etc....

Thank you again for all the advice, I have learned so much in such a short period of time and the threads on here are amazing... Such a nice atmosphere of everyone coming together to help out the piggies...

🥰 Delilah and Peppa are very grateful
