PipSqueak20
Junior Guinea Pig
Hello,
I am wondering whether anyone has any advice. My pig Pip has had stomach troubles for a few months. I’ve been to the vets regularly about it but everyone’s kind of stumped. These are what I’ve tried. Her poo goes from normal shape but soft to small, tear shaped and soft.
- she is taking poo soup from my healthy pig Ginger. 3ml (that’s all she will take) daily mixed with probiotics and and critical care.
- She’s off food all together (including treats and dried herbs) which is due to vets recommendation. I’ve made up with adding loads of hay (Timothy and meadow hay) as well as readigrass.
- She drinks quite a bit at least 100ml daily. She has
- she seems fine in herself, no lethargy, no squeaking when weeing or pooing, no hiding away or arching her back etc
- She lost 2 friends last month and is currently trying to bond with little Ginger. So maybe stress or anxiety
- Her weight is stable it went from 1143 to 1157 which is in the range she usually is
- She has had her stool analysed at the vets and the report came back with nothing bad like parasites, blood or bad bacteria.
- She had a urine test last month that came back good. No blood or bacteria.
- She does get gassy and slightly bloated but it seems to go and come back a few days later. It’s been better off food.
- She’s been to the vets every 2 weeks and they palpated and found no lumps, or stones.
- She had an ultrasound last month which only brought back that she was full of poop and small amount of gas and nothing else of concern.
If anything I might book a full xray next week to see if there’s anything else. I know some pigs can get chronic soft poop.
Any advice would be amazing.
Thank you x
