So glad to read she is getting a bit better hope she is fully recovered soon x

Glad she seems brighter and that Simon is happy with her. Keeping everything crossed for you both.

Thank you everyone :)

Nellie continues to make slow improvements. She was very lively this morning (woke me up!) and ate half a slice of cucumber by herself. She has also had a bit of a munch on some grass in the sunshine. Syringe-feeding is getting better - we are now able to get 10ml in in one sitting rather than wrestling 2-3ml in! That means I've been able to revise for my exams for a longer period before feeding her again!

She's been sounding a bit snotty since yesterday, so today I took her into the bathroom with me so she could benefit from the steam.

Just about to give her another feed.

Fingers-crossed she is getting better now!

You are doing a really fab job with her, she is lucky to have such a caring mum. Lots of healing vibes sent x

Nellie had a little set back this morning; she was more lethargic than she had been in the past two days, and there was an awful lot of blood in her urine, but we were told to expect this. Wasn't quite expecting so much, though.

She perked up after her morning dose of metacam, and spent another day with Elma, and ate some grass and some hay. She has also taken her syringe food well, and her weight is 958g today which is good (compared to 555g, 540g, 520g)!

She's also pooping a little more now, although they're still very poor quality...a chain of tiny little shrivelled things held together by sticky stuff. BUT we appear to be reverting back to normal poops as she went normal poop - little poop - sticky poop - diarrhoea - no poop - sticky poop....so hopefully little poop and normal poop are next! (my Mum didn't share my poop enthusiasm!)

Hope things are improving today?

Not much change today. She's not overly interested in anything other than grass, which she only eats a little of. She's still producing poops, which is good, but they could do with being bigger and of a better quality!

Her urine is looking much better - more of a normal colour and no blood today. It's also not as gritty.

She's spending less time with me and more time with Elma now, which I think helps.

Great news, I hope her improvement continues! X

We had some reasonably good, poop-shaped poops this morning! YAY :yahoo::))

Also just set a new record for ml of food syringed in one sitting: 20ml!:yahoo:

Good news, I remember being obsessed with piggy poop when nursing a poorly piggy. Continued love and vibes x

Oh yes, I am definitely obsessed with piggy poop right now! No one else seemed to share my enthusiasm this morning when I found some nice little poops! Funny, that!

Yippeeeee well done Nellie :yahoo::love:

Can totally understand your obsession with poops! Onyx had gut statis so poops became focus for two years!
Hugs and vibes for Nellie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Nellie continues to make small improvements - she seems much more like her usual self, and she is making more effort to eat by herself. She's still very underweight, and I have to syringe feed her, but the fact that she is showing interest in eating herself is a good sign!

Nellie update!

Nellie is doing very well - she is eating for herself and seems very happy and active. Simon remarked that she had definitely got her squeak back!

She still needs syringe feeding as she is struggling to maintain her weight, but we've got into a nice little routine so she is much easier to feed now.

She's still not strong enough for imaging, so Simon could only speculate as to what is going on in her tummy. He says it is possible that her right kidney has packed up, leaving her with only one functioning kidney, which scared me a bit but apparently she can live a happy and healthy life with just one.

The Poop Machine is definitely back up and running! It's so lovely to see her getting back to her normal self, too! She gives me kisses at feeding-time now

I honestly didn't think she's still be with us, she was so gravely ill, but it just goes to show what a little fighter she is! She's not out of the woods yet, but things are looking better. The aim now is to get her up to a stable 1kg!

One of my rabbits has a kidney that doesn't function but she is living a great life, and you really wouldn't know there was anything wrong with her. She had blood tests and her kidney function was perfect, which shows that one kidney can work just as well as two xx
