Aw holding you in my heart, hope you can get an appointment on Tuesday, ring at 8.00 am they get very busy and appointments are snapped up so quickly.Thank you for your tips, I am trying everything just to get something into him. This is the first time he has refused the Critical Care, usually he is fine with it. I’ve just had the Selective Science Recovery food delivered by Amazon so I will give that a go too. He is eating leafy bits ok, parsley, lettuce, mint, coriander and grass but that’s about it.
I also took your advice and got an appointment this afternoon at my local Vets 4 Pets. I asked if he could have some fluids by injection which the vet agreed to do. He weighed him and he’s down to 575g today, the lowest he’s ever been.
I explained that he was already being treated by another vet in Northampton so I didn’t expect any other treatment and the vet was fine with that. I feel very lucky that I managed to get him seen at such notice, think it helped that I know the receptionist very well.
So all I can do for now is keep offering him different bits to eat (I do mix porridge oats into the syringe food, and he does eat some just dry) and try to keep him going until hopefully I can get an emergency appointment with Kim or Simon on Tuesday.
This little boy is such a fighter with such a strong will to live, how he is still here is beyond me tbh.
Oh, I’m so sorry to hear about Ted’s passing, it’s heartbreaking when they go isn’t it , was he a senior piggy?Aw holding you in my heart, hope you can get an appointment on Tuesday, ring at 8.00 am they get very busy and appointments are snapped up so quickly.
I do have an appointment for late Wednesday afternoon if you can’t get an appointment on Tuesday. Please PM me before midday on Tuesday if you need it with your name, details etc and your piggies name otherwise I will cancel it as my boy Ted passed over the bridge just before Christmas x
I wouldn't use it without discussing it with a vet first.Just a thought...is there anyone on this group used animal CBD cream/oil? I follow a guinea pig rescue in America (LAGuineapigrescue) which is run by an amazing lady called Saskia. She does lots of online talks/videos and always recommends CBD cream/oil for sick and senior piggies. She sells it at her rescue but obviously coming from America it would take a long time to get here. I’ve looked online but can’t seem to find it and just wondered if anyone has used it on their sick piggies?
He was a dental piggie and reach a good age of nearly 6. Ted was due for this dental on the 30th of December, my travel partners were taking him up to Northampton with them and their two dental piggies. We shared the journeys, they live in Devon.Oh, I’m so sorry to hear about Ted’s passing, it’s heartbreaking when they go isn’t it , was he a senior piggy?. That’s so kind of you to offer your appointment for Wednesday, I will definitely let you know if I need it if I can’t get one for tomorrow. This is going to sound like a stupid question but I don’t know how to PM on here!
Oh no poor Treacle, I hope you can get an early appointment tomorrow, fingers crossed he pulls through. They are fab vets, if anyone can really help him then they can. Thinking of you both xAwww poor little Ted. These piggies really get under your skin don’t they, especially the ones you have nursed through illness. Treacle is pretty much taking over my whole life atm, but I’m just glad I have the time to devote to him.
We bought my daughter one of those pen things for her laptop as she’s been working from home for months now, she’s finding it very useful.
Thank you for explaining the PM...really quite easy when you know how! I will definitely let you know by midday tomorrow about the appointment. Today he’s so poorly I’m really thinking it might be kinder to put him to sleep but I think I will let Kim or Simon see him and advise what they think is best for him.
Good Morning, just to let you know that I’ve managed to get an emergency appointment with Simon at 10.50 am today so literally leaving in a minute....will update when we get home this afternoon xOh no poor Treacle, I hope you can get an early appointment tomorrow, fingers crossed he pulls through. That is reassuringJust to reassure you further re hay eating. Our piggy, Tilly, who eats despite her teeth, not because of, as they’re so bad, eats barely any hay, but she is very well. Tilly loves grass, veg, oats and the tiny blackcurrant and oregano nuggets. She’s bright, energetic and full of life and hasn’t eaten actual hay for over 2 years!
