Hi everyone,

I hope that you will find this interesting - I just completed first version of the guinea pig quiz on my site. For the time being it is an iframe from outside service, but I hope I will manage to construct my own script in time.

You can check it out and send your results :)

Also, the site is still under careful content construction, so constructive feedbacks are always welcome!

Regards

I got 18/20 but...

Don't apple pips contain cyanide rather than arsenic? ?/

I disagree with a few answers:

for example pellets do not need to be available 24/7 that only applies to youngsters

and cage size for one piggy being 90cm IMHO that is far too small I put 120.

Also the guinea pig sound is not a sound my 5 have ever made so that one is a bit dependant on guinea pig.

And lifespan I always got told 4-8 years is normal not 3-6 but both are options on that question

I also think you should indicate how many answers each question should have though

I agree with you but also I do not think cedar shavings are good for piggies and a heart rate of 200 is a little low as it should be between 240 and 250 bpm.

but the question near the end saying that piggies are 'not demanding, small in size, quiet and peacefull in nature' is def wrong I put 'very demanding, expensive, asking for constant attention and jealous' if you dont believe me you are more than welcome to come and visit my 5 :))

I got 19/20 because I put 120cm too and it came up with 90cm. To be honest I think that anything above 120 should have been accepted as an answer as the more space, the better for the guinea pig.

100 cm is okay for 1, 120 for 2 and 140 for 3 thats what i've always thought, extra is just a luxury.

a 3x2 is a minimum for 1 = 0.7 sq metres , a 100cm cage is 0.54 sq metres so I dont think its big enough a 120cm cage is 0.7 sq metres which is the bare minimum for 1 or 2. a 140 cage is 1 sq metre so bare minimum for 3 or good for 2.

I think the quiz should specify more dimensions as a 3x2 has one side that is 90cm but its not obvious in the question ... c&c sizing on the question or the 0.7sq metres/7 sq feet thing might be a better question

I got 16 according to your test, but sorry IMO I got 20/20

Pellets shouldn't be available 24/7, just hay and water
It's cyanide in apple pips, not arsenic
Min cage size should be 120cm, not 90cm
The noise doesn't suggest hunger, it's just general excitement. My three do it everytime I walk into the room whether it's feeding time or not (and they always have hay so never hungry)

Thanks everyone for the useful feedback! I have immediately revised some of the questions and answers based on your input and tried to minimize ambiguity and errors.
After all, it is an early beta version testing functionality at first.

- arsenic/cyanide was definitely a speedy mistake, my apologies
- I added more possible minimum cage sizes, as the width, length and height all matters to define a minimum living conditions
- the wheeking sound truly means general excitement, but in the available answers hunger is the closest interpretation. Nevertheless, I see that "general excitement" answer would probably suit better to avoid confusion
- @lynda1 - cedar is not a good option for a bedding as the correct answer suggests; heart rate question is corrected - it was a typo:( ; question about guinea pig as a pet is meant for a single pet characteristics :)

If you have any more comments/suggestions, please feel free to update. Also, if you wish to contribute in any way to the site, you can send me an email through the website contact page.

Tnx again!

I got 17/20

after the revisions I knew the apple pips had a poison in them but picked arsenic - DOH!, not cyanyde :red norty piggie slave. I also nearly said they come from south africa - which I was going to go for but for some reason I doubted myself and recalled reading somewhere they came from new guinea - another DOH! and in my speed to answer I missed excessive drinking being from hunger and pain, although to be fair I might not have ticked if I had read the question properly anyway just because in my experience (not with pigs in this case) the thing animals wont do is drink more if hungry or in pain, but that is just my experience so maybe I know for future.

I got one wrong but I am sorry, I think the question was unfair to be honest.

"Which of the following must be available 24/7 to your guinea pig" I would think that water would be the most important, what if it's the middle of summer for example? I agree grass/ hay should be there 24/7 as well but I really do not think water should be classed as an incorrect answer. I always make sure they always have both.

Just had to stop and laugh out loud at the "Where do guinea pigs come from?" The twelve colonies of Kobol. :)) :(|) Now questioning whether or not my guinea pigs could be cylons. :))
Got almost full marks, just missed a couple on excessive water drinking and couldnt remember why apple seeds had to be removed.

Hahaha i thought that when lo bear made that noise he was just looking for attention! Good to know my little man is healthy :)

I got two wrong because of spelling mistakes... I do find it frustrating when quiz's ask you to write in your own thing (especially if they are uncommon words like cyanide) but i did actually get the answer right, so I'm not too bothered.

16/20

In all fairness I saw the word arsenic in the first reply and copied ") And I put 1000cm instead of 100cm. I get my measurements mixed up :))

This is probably a misunderstanding, both grass hay AND water are correct answer. I've just checked ;)

I understand, I am considering totally removing "fill in the blanks" type of questions.

Cage size question for example is probably especially inappropriate for this type because it does not accept range of answers, just discrete values. In other words, if someone writes 115cm in would an incorrect answer whereas 110 or 120 cm would be classified as "correct".
