Dental Guinea pig not eating despite dental treatment

I am so sorry for you and Frank. Would he try some plain dry porridge oats, they help maintain weight and my dental piggie used to love them
Good luck, I hope Frank improves, I know how utterly awful this situation is x

That’s such a shame that you can’t get an appointment at the moment, but in the meantime, could you up the amount of syringe food he’s having? Does he take it well? I aim for around 100 - 120 mls of syringe food, per 24 hours, for a piggy who isn’t eating anything for themselves. Will he eat porridge oats? What about mushed up nuggets on a plate? xx
He doesn’t take it great, feeding around 80ml now and more if he will take it. He is better than he was with it though so hopefully will be able to give even more. I have never thought about porridge oats, I will try him with those. Thank you! xx

I will try him with some porridge oats, thank you for the recommendation! We have been in touch with a guinea pig vet in Matlock today, going to see what she suggests. Thank you so much xx

Lots of people go to see Ellie Whitehouse for dental issues it will be well worth it, good luck 🤞

Update on Frank: I had to make the toughest decision I have ever had to make today to have my little Frank pts. He showed no signs of improvement after multiple dental treatments. He had his first lot of filing at my local vet, then I took him to an exotic and then I took him to the guinea pig vet in Matlock. His elongated roots and malocclusion were severe and he seemed extremely fed up and depressed these last few days. He went from eating around 160ml of his critical care a day to very little and refusing the syringe. It was apparent he was in pain and unfortunately the pain medication didn’t seem to help. I know I did everything I could for him these past 7+ weeks, but it just doesn’t feel real. I miss my sweet baby so much already. Rest easy Frank🤍

Aw I'm so sorry you've lost Frank. What a gorgeous little piggy! Eating all the snacks he could ever want now, no doubt.
RIP little Frank, over the Rainbow Bridge 🌈❤️

I’m so sorry you have had to make this hard decision. You tried all you could but it looks like Frank was telling you in the end he’d had enough. Dentals are so hard to get right.

Popcorn high, pain free over the bridge gorgeous Frank. Take care ❤️
