Hello everyone I posted about Bugzys eye earlier in the week. I’ve just got off the phone to the vet and stupidly forgot to mention it. Is this cause for concern. Picture is of his left eye which seems slightly watery vs. His right eye to compare.

I can’t really see clearly. Does it look just watery? How long has it been going on?

I’m not sure if it’s calcium build up or what. It’s like watery and slightly milky alone the waterline of his eye. It isn’t leaking or anything. It’s been like this for approx 3 days.

It’s difficult to see from the picture
I’m trying to work out how best to capture it for you to see... currently he will only let me take pictures of his nose!

It won’t be calcium build up in his eye, but If it is watering a lot then there could be some irritation in his eye (hay dust for example) so having a vet look at his eye is best.

Our vets are currently only doing video calls until absolutely urgent. Do you think this could wait until Tuesday when they reopen to be looked at.

It’s not watering a lot or leaking as such, it’s just like a little bit watery along that line. It looks like you can see the white of his eye but normally this is not visible.

Watery tear fluid is generally a sign of an irritation that is being washed out. If it persists, check whether there could be something stuck under a lid or whether your piggy has been in a strong draft. You may not see a small hay poke initially because the fluid is hiding it, either.

Please contact your vet or an out-of-hours vet during cheaper day time hours if the watering persists or as soon as you notice signs of an ulceration (bluish spot and then film over the surface of the eye that is a sign of an infected scratch or poke) or a swelling/redness of the conjunctiva.

The eye is not looking sore, squinting/blinking often or is drawn in, so whatever it is looks rather minor.

I agree - can’t see anything specific. If you want, you could just clean it with some cooled boiled water on a cotton wool pad to see if there’s anything irritating it (maybe a hair or a bit of debris).

Hey, I think I know what you’re talking about. Similar thing (I think) I’ve noticed on one of my girls the other day.
I did actually take her in to see a vet and she’s essentially said there’s nothing there. Annoying when you’re pretty sure there is something there 😂
Hey ho, think basically just keep an eye on it and see if it gets any worse.
I’ve attached pics too of ‘good’ & ‘bad’ eyes to see if it’s the same

This is a huge relief. Thank you!

I’m going to try and soak it if he will let me and take it from there. If it isn’t any better by Tuesday when non urgent vets reopen I will phone them.

So Bugzy’s dry skin is still present and he’s now got some crust by his nose. Couldn’t see anything in the eye but I’ve phoned the vets to be sure.
Would rather be overly cautious than lose him to something preventable.

Yes definitely get him seen by the vet now symptoms have progressed. Let us know how you get on

His brother also had a slight crusty eye this morning. This is awful. I feel like I’m failing them somehow.

Try not to be hard on yourself, you are not failing them, piggies get poorly even with the very best of care. You aren’t doing anything wrong. Do have the vet check them both over.
