So I have three guinea pigs. Two have a body like a ‘hotdog’ and the other one has an ‘hour glass shape’. She has always had this ‘hour glass shape’ since she was a baby. So my question is, like humans, do guinea pigs have different body shapes?

I think so, at least to a certain extent. I have certainly had 'big boned' pigs and 'small boned' pigs. I do find that age sometimes is a factor, as younger pigs may be more long and lean, pigs in the prime of life may be more pear shaped, and older pigs may be thinner/bonier on top as they lose muscle mass. Right now I have two adult sows, one is 4.5 years and one just turned 2, and the size/shape difference is noticeable, with the older one being very broad through the head and weighing over a pound more than the petite little one.

Some breeds have different body shapes. Abys are generally wedge shaped, cresteds are more sausage shaped and rex-type piggies can develop very round back ends. Sows have generally more of a bum (a pear-shaped figure) than boars. if they have had a babies, then the stretched tissue can contribute to an even more generous figure.

My lady with the biggest bum (and no, she never had babies!) was teddy sow Nerys (2008-16):

My teenagers would say that Nerys is THICC! LOL!

My pigs are still babies, so they'll probably still undergo some changes, but Oreo is pear-shaped (I love his chubby figure), while Shoyu is long and lean. Shoyu actually reminds me a preá (Brazilian guinea pig) a lot, even his cute little face. Except for the brindle coloration, he looks a lot like this:

They come in all shapes and sizes and they all walk differently too. We have mincers, strutters and lopers.

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I love learning new stuff!
