Guinea pig boarding - the start of an idea - can I run it past you?

Hi Doeylicious, thanks for your input, it's good to hear that it's been quite successful for you.

I'm just in the process of creating some posters and leaflets, and I'll pop them up in the local vets, the local animal charity office and a few local pet shops. I'm also trying to sort out some insurance quotes; who do you use, by the way?

I also need to put together a quesionnaire for the owners to complete when they book their piggies in.

Thanks again for your input, Tracey

It has been good, it's not enough to live on though, you would need to do it on such a big scale to do that that IMO you wouldn't be caring for each animal enough...well with my profits as they are anyway. It is also VERY seasonal, I have noone at all now until July but the first week in August its incredibly busy, I only have one 'room' for two piggies left.

I'm sorting out new insurance at the moment as our stupid home insurance people led us to believe they could cover us, told us it was all sorted, then we got the policy and nothing on it and they said 'oh no we don't cover than kind of business' ? idiots, I am swayed towards PetPlan as I used to have my rider insurance with them and they were always pretty good, and are underwritten by Alianz who are a reputable, large company.

If you go to my website you can see a copy of my booking in form. The most important bit from a legal point of view is to have something that says they agree to the terms and conditions and sign it!

My minefield is the admin side...for someone whose a PA by day (yes, really) I can't deal with my own admin at all...am going down to a friends house soon to learn about being self employed properly..!

I now have two three-storey cages (long story!), and I have a load of grids/connectors, so I could offer very flexible indoor accommodation, catering for solo piggies all the way up to large-ish groups. I also have the space in the house for people to bring their own cages if they prefer.

:o

how big are these and where did you get them?!

The only way I can keep my piggles is if I get them a large indoor cage, but I'm gonna need storeys!

Hi Amanda, I got the first one from Zooplus:

http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/small_pets/hutches_cages/rabbit_cage/100_cm_cages/137454

and the second on was an absolute bargain from ebay....brand new, it has a crack to the corner of one of the trays, but that's nothing major........
http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/small_pets/hutches_cages/rabbit_cage/120_cm_cages/137450

have a guess how much.......£47.99 inclusive of express delivery! Not got it yet, but expecting it today or tomorrow.

It's a great cage and the piggies seem to love it!

Tracey

Thanks for that :) I'm considering C&C just for that bit more flexibility that it offers....

Arghhh too many decisions!
