Thanks, this one must be the soft chips. Going to have a look tomorrow at the farm shop to see if they sell it
Hi maxdawn. If you can't get it I can let you know where I got mine from @£6.50 a bale

Thanks. But I wouldnt want to put you to the trouble I have a million pigs so if I dont get on with it it'll not last long anyway :)
I think your millions will like this. It's not like woodshavings and I can't see it sticking to everything either. I'm still happy to stick a sample in the post if you want.

Yes please, I had a look at the farm shop by me today. But they don't sell it
I got it from dawns country store in Wallingford. I'm happy to pick some up for you as I live near abingdon so it would be a bit closer for you along the a34.

Sorry forgot to thank you any way for the kind offer

It's a tiny bit dusty but nothing like megazorb or hay even. I wouldn't say it was super soft but I've tried the bare foot testing myself (like you do)! And would be happy to have it as my bedding if I were a small animal. I'm happy to stick some in an envelope to you if you wanted to see it before going to daventry. I'd say it's a bit like to aubiose but not quite as spikey

Well, it turned out to be the soft chip stuff. What a refreshing change. I put them in tonight, they spent a good half hour exploring their new pad and all seem very happy. As I've not got hay bedding now, I need to think up a hay rack idea for a c&c cage. It smells really nice too. Thanks bosshog
I'm glad you like it, it smells nice doesn't it? I used to have the problem of shavings sticking to soft poop on Mary's belly then baking hard as she lay on it, making for baths every other day. Since she's slimmed down and I'm using snowflake, the problem has gone. It's excellent for absorption - the hutch floors are reasonably dry, even though the bedding is damp with pee. :tu:

I'll slowly convert the forum to snowflake, I'll have to write to them and get commission! :))

I think I will just go get some and try it. How can I not try it after someone has done a bare foot test. :D Thank you

I have a fat piggy so will keep an eye on her belly. At least now I can limit her intake! How did you slim your one? What do you mean the bedding is damp with pee? I've put mine directly on it. Have I done wrong?

Mary (and Betty)are, or were fat bunnies, I reduced their fresh food, and only give half a bowl of dry food per day, I also made sure that they couldn't get into the pigs or boy buns hutches to eat their food. Coupled with plenty of lawn time, they soon slimmed down. ;)

I bare foot test it everyday, my seven are always kicking some out on to the floor of the shed! :))

What I mean, is when I come to clean the hutch, the snowflake has soaked up the pee, but the floor of the hutch is reasonably dry as the snowflake holds in the moisture. When I used shavings, the pee used to pass straight through and the floor of the hutch was soaked, meaning it had to be dried and disinfected before putting fresh shavings back in.

See if any stockists offer delivery at reasonable rates. ;)

Failing that, approach your local pet store and ask them to order it in for you, that's what I did, I order 3 bales a month and it gets delivered to the shop with their order, I just pick it up from the shop then. ;)

Ah, I see. It was late when I read it! Well they survived the night and are quite happily munching away on their cucumber breakfast before they go out in the garden. There's not much poo in sight so I'm guessing they've been snuggled up most of the night in their pigaloos

I may give that a go. I do have a warehouse type place nearby. Will ask them!

All is well still with the snowflake but I did notice a couple of bits stuck in you know where on one of my girls. It was easily removed and no doubt it would have made its way out with the amount of poos she does. Is this normal? Should I be worried?

I wouldn't worry about it, they are bound to eat some as they wolf their food down. The chips are small enough not to cause any damage. :tu:

I may have exaggerated a little lol... I have 18 a present as I have been taking on unwanted pigs, doing all neccessary with regards to vets etcc and pregnancy watches etc . and attempting to rehome them. I have homes lined up for 6 at the minute so fingers crossed there will be less very soon! Although my latest girl I took on is very pregnant so may be more before its less :(
I'd love to have 18 plus piggies! Not quite sure where that many would go though! I will confess to having worked out that we could fit up to 14 in though :)

If anything ever happens to the rabbits, I've worked it out that their new hutches to be, can be converted to 4 hutches big enough to house 6 piggies per hutch! :D

Ok. Thanks. I can't believe how it keeps the smell down in comparison to everything else I've tried. Maybe I could afford more pigs now I've found cheaper bedding

Well you can imagine how I feel, I use it for 4 rabbits and 3 piggies, it hasn't half reduced the smell in the shed compared to the wood shavings I used to use. ;)
