Gluten Free and other Oddities

Chickpea flour is a good alternative as well. I bought a bag and it’s not even 1/4 used yet. There’s also aquafaba or the water from chickpeas.

Where did you get the Orgran, is it in the plant based section?
 
I finally found it in a Holland and Barrett store.
I tried aquafaba once but it was a disaster - not sure what I did wrong.
I must get some more chickpea flour - I’m all out.
It’s lovely for making bhajis
 
I made a gluten free eggless sponge.
It’s come out well and passed the husband test.
I used an old wartime recipe rather than egg replacement for this.
 
Did you use bicarb and vinegar?

I'm not sure to be jealous of your husband or pity him having to try all your sample cooking! :blink:
The recipe used Golden syrup as well as sugar with self raising flour and milk.
It’s very quick and simple.
My husband never complains when I offer him something new to try 😊
 
Mango and Lime Slaw - Vegan

Grated zest of a lime plus juice of 4 limes
250 ml mango pulp
1 tbspn light soy sauce
Mix well together.

Add half each white and red cabbage finely sliced.
3 grated carrots
Handful of chopped mint leaves.

Stir together to mix.
