Giant Abscess Under Chin Overnight!

Thank you for sharing 🙏 msm dissolves calcium deposits which is the active ingredient in Sherwood urinary support. I agree with what you said however Truffle just went under anesthesia 4 times in two weeks and the Vet suggested surgery for Tuesday! He is depleted in every way at the age of 6 years old and this abscess infection started in September when I fed him on my own every 2 to 3 hours for 3 months! He is weak. And this bladder surgery with stones in his urethra…. Plus recovery…. No more. I’m not putting him through it. Today there was no blood in his urine and he’s not in pain when urinating…. They gave me a muscle relaxant as well to possibly help stones pass in urethra. Two tiny ones. Not sure what side effects are with muscle relaxants. I’ve given him 3 tablets since yesterday. I will monitor him over next week and if he doesn’t improve I will let him go home to be with his brother who passed two months ago after surgery for mammary tumour. He may not survive surgery… I can’t bear it. I’ve done everything for 6 months to keep him alive… I pray that his stones pass. 🙏🐹❤️

Unfortunately, I agree with @Free Ranger .

While the occasional case has come off, the vast majority that has come through the forum unfortunately haven't. Please beware of the hype for any new products.

I fully understand how desperate you are as a loving and very dedicated owner but with a stone as large as your boy's and having had several piggies with large stones needing operations myself a decade ago when I was experimenting with newly recommended diets (which didn't work out obviously), I would be very doubtful whether the problem can be medically solved.

I am really sorry about your string of serious problems.

HUGS

Just want to say I admire how much love you have for your piggy and the lengths you’ve gone to to help him. It’s very emotionally and physically draining to look after sick piggies with constant worrying and vet visits, and of course even more so for our piggies.
I would personally be doubtful too about a stone that size passing with any product but I have everything crossed for you both and I really hope it happens. I can understand you not wanting another surgery for him. It is a lot to handle at 6 years old and he’s been such a trooper from the sounds of it. Thinking of you both and I really do hope and pray things work out ❤️

I’m sending my Truffle home to be with his brother Buttercup 😞❤️ He has moments when he is playing with his new little brother but as I spend 24/7 with him (not working now) his is in pain when he poops and sometimes pees. It’s not every time you see… so I get hopeful that his muscle relaxant will allow those tiny stones in his urethra to pass…. Or maybe shrink a little from all the water I give him and those tablets. I was up with him through the night.
I have a question… his brother is 5 months old now… do I bring him to show him Truffle after he passes? Or will that traumatize him? Will he think I’m a murderer ?
And also I’ll have to get him a companion and I was thinking another baby 2.5 months old … is he old enough to be with a baby yet? Truffle trained him well 🙏🙏🐹❤️

All of this is heartbreaking 💔 thank you for your help 🙏😞💔🐹

I have just caught up with your thread and I’m so sorry to hear your sad news 😞 you have tried so hard to make Truffle better. I would show his body to Buttercup when the time comes so he understands what’s happened and no, Buttercup won’t think you’re a murderer x

@Angela99
Hello I’m just read this thread.
What you have done and are doing for Truffle is beautiful.
it’s very hard when we have to accept that we are losing a loved piggie.
A lot of us on here have sadly been through this and when I needed help I got it off understanding people.
Make Truffle comfortable and be very brave if you need to make that deeply love last thing and have him pts to stop his suffering.
When I get a piggie I tell um 3 things
1 I will love you
2 I will care for you.
3 you I will never let you suffer.
You on stage 3
When he leaves to join rainbow 🌈 world let his brother see him to allow his goodbye.
It’s very powerful seeing that.
Take Care love David and his Piggies x

I'm so sorry it hasn't turned out for the better. At least he will be reunited with his brother over the Bridge. Enjoy your remaining time with him here 🌈❤️

Thank you 🙏 I’m sitting with him now … I could take him to emergency down the street but I’m waiting for his vet to open tomorrow (it’s a holiday) He eats happily … seems fine… then sits in one place… so I toss and turn about right choice. I’m going to ask his vet . He’s also on morphine, metacam, and a muscle relaxer so I want to make sure about the pain.
I appreciate your feedback and support bc I feel alone. No one has Guinea pigs I know and anyone else discards the sensitivity of how much I love my babies. I’m not working so I’m with him 24/7 should he need emergency care half a block away.
😞💔

I’ve just caught up with this thread, and I’m so sorry that you’re having to make this decision. Your devotion to Truffle has been incredible to read, he’s been very lucky to have you as an owner. We are all here if you should need more support, whatever decision you make. You’re never alone here ❤️

I’m so sorry to read this, but if I was in your shoes I’d be doing the same. Your devotion to trying to save him has been incredible to read, Truffle really landed on his feet finding someone who cares about him as much as you. I was hoping and praying for better news for you both, but you truly did absolutely everything you could for him and that’s so special. It’s so unfortunate that sometimes no matter how much we try to help them, there’s only so much we can do for them.

When my pigs have passed I’ve sometimes let them see the bodies and sometimes not. Someone probably has much more experience with which is a better idea than me, but if they’re bonded it probably is a good idea to let them know they’ve passed. I think 2 young pigs would work well too but I’m not the most experienced with young boars. I’m so sorry again, sending you and Truffle and his little brother big hugs ❤️ Please take care of yourself

Sending you and Truffle my very best wishes. It's so hard to say goodbye to them especially when we have fought so hard to make them better. Whatever you decide will be the right thing to do because the decision was made with love. You are not alone.

TRUFFLE UPDATE! Hello I was crying all night couldn’t breathe because today I was going to take him for euthanasia but his spirit was up despite pain so I talked to his Vet and we discussed options and I decided with him to do the surgery. He said if he sees a complication getting stones out of urethra or there is damage etc he will call me to decide euthanasia during surgery. So I’m giving one last chance because he eats a ridiculous amount of food and try’s to run through his tunnel… I just was bawling all night. We live in one room (bachelor suite) and he’s very talkative with me. We are so close I can’t bare it.
So wish us luck tomorrow! Yes it is expensive $1,000 too.
Thank you everyone your support means everything! 🙏❤️🐹❤️

You both have been been on such a rollercoaster, you seriously deserve some good news! Praying for you both, good luck Truffle ❤️

Thinking of you both ❤️
Hoping for a good outcome.

Thank you so much everyone 🙏🙏 I took Truffle into Vet this morning for his surgery… but they called me an after saying doctor had 4 emergency operations so he would have to do it tomorrow!
So I went back and took him home. I’m with him all the time and his spirits are up… he is eating a lot … a lot which is wonderful and he playing with his little brother, but he is in pain as well…. Making pain sounds and raising his body when he poops and pees. So it’s hard to watch and I can only give so many drugs.
So one more night we will hold on!
🐹🙏🐹🙏❤️
