Hi everyone! My name is Jennifer, I am brand new here. I have a 2 year old male guinea pig named Stamp. About a week ago I noticed that his prepuce (piggy foreskin or sheath) was visible. It is not inflamed or swollen. There haven't been any behavioral changes or changes in his eating or pooping habits. I saw a veterinarian and he said it was fine; however, he had to consult google photos to confirm. I am wondering if this is in fact normal. I can't find much info online. Is it common for the prepuce to be visible? Does anyone else's male piggies have a prepuce that is always visible? Any information would be super helpful.

Hi and welcome

You may find more information when looking under 'cauliflower willy'; it is actually not all that uncommon. It is the prolapsed sac tissue and not so much the penis itself that is exposed.
We recommend to check it regularly and to use a mild antiseptic to clean it in order to keep infections at bay.

Cauliflower Willy (from it appearance) is listed in our boar care guide (chapter 4) together with care tips: Boar Care: Bits, Bums & Baths

I hope that this helps you and puts your mind more at ease. It is not treatable but neither is it life shortening.
