Fudge crackling nose

Hiya , this is for my little boy Brownie , as know fudge has passed away💔
how much is
neutering a male guinea pig?
he’s seems lonely and bored and could do with a little friend , the guilt of getting another breaks my heart because of fudge but i know if i get another guinea pig fudge is sending one to me to look after brownie , I'm just trying to think how much it would cost for him at the vets? and is it dangerous for guinea pigs to go through this kind of stuff or if i get a girl i can get her sprayed , ?
i just don’t know if boys are hard to bond sometimes arnt they

The cost of neutering varies widely - you’d have to call your vet to get a breakdown of their charges.
Neutering a young, healthy boar is a pretty safe operation in the hands of an experienced vet. There is of course some risk with any surgery though.

Bonding boys isn’t difficult - it’s no different to bonding two sows or bonding a boar with a sow or - it comes down to character compatibility, they either get on or they don’t (ie a boar and sow bonding can fail just as easily as a boar and boar can if they don’t have compatibility).

If you can speak to a rescue centre who offer dating then they can help with bonding your boy with another pig - whether that is a boar or a sow.
Also bear in mind that If you get him neutered, he cannot be in the same cage as a sow for six weeks after neutering day (so obviously means he will still be on his own for a couple of months).

i think I'm gonna bond boys then as thats really worrying for me about surgery i know stuff can go wrong and obviously I'm a bit worried about that especially cause hes so small

Hiya, i’m definitely thinking of getting another boy
how do i bond 2 boys can i have some answers please

I am so sorry to hear about Fudge, my heart is breaking for you. You did all you could for him, mourn him, but don't blame yourself.

The actual bonding process as far as I am aware doesn't really differ too much regardless of if it's a boar and a boar or a sow and a sow, the only main difference is that once you have started it's recommend not to stop and for the boars to sort it out themselves and then there will be a clear indicator of a fail or a success.

I strongly recommend you use a rescue where they provide a bonding/dating service to help you through it. If you don't use a reputable rescue then the new pig would need to go into quarantine and you may end up with 2 pigs that don't accept each other.

It needs to be done in a neutral area, don't put the new pigs scent in Brownies cage as they are territorial and it could upset Brownie.

I recommend reading through the guides on the below links:

Behaviour, Bonds and Species Understanding

Good luck
