do you let your guinea pigs just roam about your front room while your in
can anyone give me ideas of floor time i have a dog but she would be in another room while they *** be out

I dont because I dont like the thought of wee on my carpets, so I let them have a run around in my hall which is laminated .

They appear to like the corner of my shoe cuboard to chew on !

When my piggies lived in a cage I gave them three hours floor time a day. I would place newspaper or towels on the floor in the hall and set out tunnels and cardboard boxes with plenty of hay and a bowl of water in case they were thirsty.

My piggles get the run of the conservatory for at least 1.5 hours everyday, and we sit out there with them for half an hour too for company :) I think an hour would be good at least for them to run around, if you could manage it.

We've got cosies, a tent, tubes and tunnels, boxes, a hay trough, water and food bowl etc out there for them and theres still loads of space for them to charge about/let off some steam!

It's sort of being redecorated in stages to make it perfect for them (so much for it being for us!) we've got no exposed wires now so don't have to cage them off, a really good heater that keeps them warm in the winter, and blinds to shade the sun. Next stage is to get the floor tiled with and underfloor heat system and it'll be finished!

My girls get about 15 mins each day to run about in the dining room, its not much I know but with 2 dogs and a cat its not easy to arrange.
Make sure all wires are out of reach!

My girls free range in our spare back bedroom but I have to sit in there with them as they are for chewing wood and skirting boards. I can also wipe up any wees before it stains. It's a good job the computer is in there. We also have a large storage tub from IKEA that we line with fleece and put it in the living room to allow them a run unsupervised.

thanks illhave to sort sonething for them we get them out 2-3 times a day for snuggles but i feel they would like some floor time
i dont like the thought of wee on my carpet
i may use my hall as no wires etc n just towel down on the carpet...
plus its safe from dog there.

They will love a run round to explore using old cardboard boxes and tunnels. An alternative to freerange, or finding a room that is safe and easliy cleaned is to make a playpen for them. Waterproof travel rugs, or shower curtain to line the base will save your carpet.
