Hi!

My friend just gave me a massive bag of greenery from her garden which hasnt had any pesticides or been cut with a mower and I wanted to check if Forget-me-knots were edible for piggies? They are all mixed in with the dandelions and I can separate them before washing if they aren't edible.

Also, are most garden weeds edible does anyone know? I have tried to look up a few but dont have much luck with finding piccys :{

Many thanks,

Tani

The lawn weed that is poisonous to guinea pigs is creeping buttercup (like all ranunculaceae).

My piggies are usually leaving forget-me-nots alone and concentrate on the dandelions and grass.

It's not on any of my lists of poisonous plants. Plants grown from bulbs, such as bluebells, daffodils and evergreens are more likely to be poisonous.

Poisonous plants also include, Anemone, Belladonna, Bindweed, Boxwood, Buttercup, Celandine, Deadly Nightshade, Docks, Dog's Mercury, Elder, Foxglove, Hemlock, Honeysuckle, Horse Chestnut, Horse Tails, Laburnum, Laurel, Lily of the Valley, Lords and Ladies, Monkshood, Poppies, Potato leaves, Privet, Ragwort, Rhubarb (wild or cultivated), Scarlet Pimpernel, Sorrel, Spurge, Wood anemone, Yew.

Hi guys!
Thanks so much for your replies! I must be having a problem with getting notifications through so only just seen your messages mallethead

I think I will try and 'weed' it out then, :)) (sorry) - just in case!
The mind boggles at all the different names and weeds... I guess I will have to just get one at a time and check it against images.
I looked at that link but it only seemed to come up with 'buttercup' on the lynx pages and I couldnt seem to find the full list.

Thanks folks!

xx
