Following Charlies Neutering Operation *Graphic Photos*

My new boar who is going to join Amelia & co went through his neutering operation today, he has bounced back really well so I've asked Furryfriends if she minds if I post photos following his recovery for reference for others thinking of neutering or not sure how to care for it afterwards.

Well this is the poor chappy sleeping off the last of the Anesthetic with Simba for company - please note he is on vetbed so I can monitor any bleeding/discharge.

Since being home he has eaten, drank and poo'd which are all great signs.

I'll probably do the next picture on Sunday evening

Those are very interesting pictures, thank you. I have been umming and ahhing about neutering for a while now and an idea of what to expect is always helpful :)

p.s. I LOVE your pj bottoms!

Thanks for that, good post. When will he be seeing the vet again? Will he have those stitches out, or will they dissolve?

He'll only revisit the vet if there's a problem. They know if we think something is wrong we'll take them back in.
I reckon he would ask to see them if we weren't regulars :)

The stitches will simply dissolve :)
 
Well here is his stitches nearly 2 full days after his operation.

He's been really good and not bothered them at all.

Here is Buddy's bits, he went through the same operation the same time as Charlie

He has attacked his stitches a little so I trimmed them down and since he has left well alone

Haha! Buddy looks strangely proud to be displaying his shaven bits :(|) Bless him. Hope he doesn't mess with his stitches anymore x
 
Very informative thread (even for me wth just girlies ;) )

Both look to be healing well so quickly! How long does it usually take for the stitches to dissolve?
 
My boar had his little op last Friday (9th July). He only had two stitches after his op and they sprayed some green antibiotic spray on him afterwards. Here are the photos to compare.

He has now nibbled the ends off his stitches although they are still intact. He is due to have them removed tomorrow although they will dissolve anyway if they can't get to them.

Can I add my lot to this thread or better in another thread? Don't want to interrupt Charlie's run of pics and I know I dragged my feet about getting Kingslie's pics online. rolleyes

Feel free to add here Laura, I don't mind :)

Might be better to have them in one topic as I reckon not every boar will look the same after the operations.
How is Kingslie doing?
 
Thanks Becky. I was thinking this would be a fab sticky, get lots of post-neuter pics on here and as you say, owners will get to see what can be expected or what can arise after the op. Kingslie had a bit of bruising, bit of blood the first day and the inflammation took a while to go down (all visible in the pics) so every pig is different. :)

Kingslie is grand thanks, all healed although he still has his stitches. Only 10 days to go until he can move in with Saffy and Peggy, the time has flown!

when ralphie had his done his stitches were purple whats the difference in the purple and the ones your boar has as the purple dissolved too?/mallethead

Oh dear, have I broken some unspoken rule of forum etiquette by posting my pictures without asking first? :red So sorry if I have. I thought it would be useful to contrast.
 
Our little man's stitches have gone completely! He was neutered the same day as Charlie (I think?) and he's all but healed.

There is almost no sign of his op at all! :)
