The girls come home from school for lunch 2 hours, and as it doesn't take them that long to eat, they both usually do something with the guinea pigs or rabbits over that time (in addition to cuddling them).
Today DD1 was supposed to clean out the hay trays and fill the hay bags.
She did the hay trays, and then I walked into the living room to this:

Me: What are you doing? I thought you were supposed to be filling the hay bags?
DD1: I am.
Me: Actually it looks like Ruby is on the sofa eating hay directly from the plastic bag.
DD1: Yes she is. It's called cutting out the middle man.
I may have signed loudly and rolled my eyes.
In this house that behaviour is not reserved for the cheeky pre teens and their difficult guinea pigs.

And in the interest of full disclosure, all of the hay bags were eventually filled, and Ruby was removed from the sofa and put back in her C&C, where she did not eat any hay from her hay bag because she was already full
