I know I shouldn't have favourites but I can safely say I prefer boy piggies to girls.

I was wondering if other people think this too! I'm not sure why but I do think they are more cuddly and have more personality.

I love the fact that some boys hate having their head stroked and will throw their heads back to get you off :)) My Tiger used to do it and the first time I picked up my Rupert he did the same and it was love at first sight (or head flick) for me :))

I also love the fact that all my boys have been so chilled out (once they had wives, they certainly weren't when they were ripping chunks out of each other :(

I like the fact that they can have a harem of women too lol it makes me feel so happy for them (obviously only if they are castrated)

I'd love to hear other peoples thoughts on their favourite sex and reasons for it.

I have always only had sows until i got my neutered boar last saturday.
Some of my girls used to throw their heads back to say get off me.
Apart from Esme and Rosie, my two rainbow bridge pigs my other girls haven't been very cuddly, and these two were the most friendliest pigs ever.
However i have only had edward a few days and he is amazingly chilled out and very cuddly.
I can't make a decision this soon though :)

I love my boys although Toby is cuddly and Barney is not. I have had girlies but back when I was a chid so I can't really remember.

i had boars as a child but only single ones so wouldn't have seen them acting out when going through puberty. I love my girls though! Girls :yahoo:all the way!

I have six girls, four hate being picked up and stroked but so cheeky and great fun to watch but other two are total snuggle bunnies. My friend has two boys and they love attention .Rescued two boys from a bad situation and were with me couple of days while rescue place found and they were snuggle bunnies. My texel sow had loads of personality, think it just depends on the pig, not the sex.I personally don't know if I could cope with the extra work boys need (grease gland, keeping willy clean etc

I've only had boars, but my boars are good lads, and so I don't know much about lady pigs to really judge! Mr Darcy is so friendly, he comes to sit on my knee after floor time. Mr Rochester is still shy, bless, but I'm slowly getting him to come out of his shell.

I have a mixture and so can't really say, for me it depends on the individual pig though the pigs that have had the biggest impact on me are both boys - Nigel and Buzz, but Mrs Fuzzy has made quite an impression.

I have mostly girls with a succession of neutered boars. Piggies are such individuals that you can't really say; both genders work for me, and by having my "husboars", I thankfully can afford to have both. Several of my boys aren't/weren't really cuddly, especially the dominant ones, while I have and have had cuddly sows, too.

I think in general I prefer males, I have experience of 4 females and 5 males and of them the males have been more cuddly and chilled with me so I would probably continue having boars over sows tbh. In general I prefer male animals, females tend to be more moody in most species IMHO.

We've only had girls, and all of our present gang are pretty cuddly and friendly. When Milly was bereaved and went dating at our local rescue, we did actually try her first with a neutered boar, but she wasn't very keen, and much preferred a young sow - in fact, it was a match made in heaven.

I'm not closed to the idea of ever having boars, but I must admit that until I joined this forum, I wasn't very aware of the *ahem* personal cleaning type jobs that sometimes have to be done, and this has put me off a bit. However, while it may have put me off in theory, I know that in practice, if I lost my heart to a cute boy piggie, I would just cope with what may need to be done!

I still think about an absolutely adorable boar that we met at the rescue, called Joseph. I know that he went to a good home, but he was so lovely - I really wanted to take him back with us!

I saw the title of this topic and thought the forum had gone 50 shades of grey! I nearly spat my cup of tea all over the screen! I haven't got a favourite, I've had 3 boars and 3 sows, all of them have been/are cheeky characters with massive personalities and have all been lavished with love.

We have only ever had girls, however every single boar we've met has been extremely cuddly compared to most of our girls. Only Putt and Treacy (towards the end) have ever really enjoy laptime snuggles. However I think Sarsaparilla will be a lap pig she is very affectionate.

I'm an internet tough guy :)) I'm gonna have to tell her the Internets are broken this evening

i have 5 girls and 2 boys and i love them all my favs are defiantly the boys. they are more relaxed than the girls when out of the cage and will even go to sleep on me when i am sitting with them, the girls are very nervous but with my o/h he says the girls are more relaxed with him and the boys are nervous.

You bad man, you read my mind:bal:...
:btt:
Always had girls, then Jack hit the deck an have loved them equally ever since, although the hubby prefers Jack because let's face it, he is such the funniest character ever:yahoo:

i have had over 25 piggies all male, and i have looked after females, females are great together, i have met wee girls that were the sweetest littles cuties, their names are rosie, buttercup, petal, all wee stars, i have only ever had males, but i have to say i am 50/50 here. one of my craziest piggies is alvin (see my profile pic) as he has already, cut himself by going under the fridgefreezer, all are now banned from kitchen, he had his penis bitten by ted because he was on his head, doing naughties as i call it, he unfortunately has lost 4 cage mates in his short 10 months and he has been so strong, i do not know how he does it, then i have my biggest kids my 9 year old seth, who has the cutest bum wriggle, and mica who is 7 years old, he is always popcorning.

I don't have an individual preference, but I do like having mixed sex groups! I currently have a male with 2 females (all neutered) and 2 pairs of a neutered male and a female.

My current trio is 2 girls and a neutered boy, (mother and son with an unrelated old girl.) before that I had a neutered boy and his sister. Before that, as I didn't know better, I had a single boy and a female rabbit. Now I have buns in their own. hutch and piggies in their own hutch and they're all very happy. :tu:

I've only ever had boars and I love them!

I'm not sure I could be doing with all this 'in season' shenanigans :) The only thing I don't like about boys is cleaning nasty boy bits and the fact I can't have a herd.... I'd love to have a big group but my two boy pairs are prefect. I did love it when they were younger and I used to have all four running round the floor together but they won't stand for it now.
