just a little update. Tiny is eating on her own, eating normally and now weighs in at 280 grams. She has gained 59 grams this week which is almost a quarter of her body weight. She's doing really well.
Thank you for your input,I know that everyone has the interests of the Guinea pigs at heart but please don't make assumptions. Just as people on this forum are cautious about the level of care given, new members can be equally reticent about giving over personal information to complete strangers,it is a two way street. I don't know you and you don't know me but we are all here for the Guinea Pigs. Now simply because I won't rush to send my Guinea Pig away to a person/persons or vet that I do not know, does not mean that the interests of my pet are not being met. Equally, there are many many really good GP Vet's out there, other than just those recommended on here. This is not meant to be disrespectful but please be mindful that making judgements or assumptions based on not knowing are not valid and there are always two sides to every story and more than one way of dealing with things and whilst you may be very happy with a certain vet or method of approach,it does not automatically render any other option as invalid.
Thank you.
You asked for advice and people have given it, so I feel it is a bit unfair to criticise those who have shared their experiences and knowledge.

However, I am delighted to hear that Tiny is gaining weight and doing well at the moment.

No one has been criticised as far as I can see but if that's how you have taken it I cannot change that. Yes I asked for advice and it was given but so were several comments implying that the welfare of my pig is in question simply because I haven't jumped to hand my pig to a stranger and an unknown Vet. also to be questioned as to whether I have attended a CCT course....that's not advice,it's just divisive as are comments stating that a person is alarmed about a pig again simply based on me not sending my pig off to a stranger for treatment.

Tiny pig continues to do well and now weighs in at 406 grams. She is 20 grams lighter than her new friend Dizzy pig who is two weeks younger so all in all, looking positive so far. Tiny no longer needs softened excel food and is managing it dry. She still isn't a huge consumer of hay but tucks into herbs and fresh grass and readigrass like they're going out of fashion.

Below is a picture of Tiny pig today(not the best picture sorry)and you can see she is a nice chunk of a piglet now. She weighs in at 708gms. I also believe that I have cured her dental issues. I bought a mouth gag and cheek dilators and dental rasps and got the vets to show me how to use them and what to look for in terms of her back teeth. She hasn't been entirely enthusiastic about having her mouth propped open but she has got used to it and I have been able to regularly file her teeth. This week is the third week in a row where she hasn't required any filing and she is entirely eating hard food and hay without any issues at all. I will be regularly monitoring the status of her teeth but they currently look amazing and I am confident that even if I'm not quite there yet with her, I have nearly got her completely sorted. It took some time to get her to a weight and size where I could work on her teeth with some confidence and less of her wriggling. After all these weeks I can truly appreciate why there was concern over her care and I do understand how tricky dental issues can be. I have a mummy pig with four babies and can already see that one of the babies is going to be a challenge in terms of dental issues but I now feel much more confident in dealing with it. I will likely take her to the vets to get a whiff of gas initially so we can examine her teeth together so I will know what I am up against with this next little pig.

I would just add that I wouldn't recommend my approach to anyone unless they know exactly what they are doing and are able to workm closely with their vet to ensure that proper care is being taken. I do have a fair deal of experience and even I did not undertake the care of Tiny pigs teeth lightly.

Thank you, she's a very cuddly pig and she doesn't mind what I do to her now. I love to pick her up and feel the weight of her. When I think back to how she was at the start,it's like someone has swapped pigs on me. The picture doesn't show how glossy she is but she has the best coat. I absolutely adore her and despite the worry about her teeth at the start,I wouldn't change a thing. Guinea Pigs are amazing little things.
