They will eat that much because guineas don't know when to stop! Little gutsy pigs they are!

However, you do have to be careful because too much veg with vitamin a or foods that are windy can cause trouble later on in life. It is good to get a variety in the mix.

I find leafy greens the best to provide. CCC4 did a good chart for calcium ratios and those websites Peter provided about diet are useful.

thought I'd update:

I'm going to try the chinese market for veggies. I noticed they sometimes sell them in much smaller bundles (At one I went to, they even went into the back and got me a SINGLE red bell pepper as all there was was three packs and I only wanted one) and stuff.

I watched an episode of Muppet Show tonight with Piggy in lap. she mostly just sat there, sniffing around and stuff and being petted. Didnt purr at all though. The cat of course was quite interested and lay beside me, chin on my leg beside the pig (She snorgled the pig a few times too. do you know how hard it is to find cat toys that dont have feathers, rabbit fur or other things that could smell like my other pets?)

I also gave her a gentle brushing with a slicker brush. Looks much better. I should take a photo. She's a bit discolored around the back end on the hairs, probably from urine getting stuck in her coat. I will be working on that too when I trim her.

Is a slicker brush good on piggies, if used gently?

Hi the brush i use is for small animals and it's synthetic and very soft :)

Your piggie sounds like she's really settling in well xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Such a great feeling when they do their first purrs and popcorns x)x)

btw Calgary is a lovely place i've been there :)

Oh, I've seen her popcorn before when she was in her playpen and stuff. She's a VERY quiet piggy though. Rarely makes a sound even when squeaking for food.

I gave her a carrot when I put her back in her cage.

You should've seen the cat trying to 'get' her... she'd lay beside me on the couch, streetch out a paw to tap the piggy... very gently of course. Its like 'I'm just stretching mom, its not MY fault the piggy is in the direction my paw is going!'

very amusing. I will have to take pics.

:(|):(|):(|) cheeky puss!
oh yes we love pics on here drool

you should see the cat's antics wit the birds. She'll run BY them to startle them, or if they're out of the cage, she'll climb in the cage and sit there (I think she drinks their water. Changed of course)

She also will sit with her back to the bird and deliberately flick her tail at the bird to annoy it. Or pull the same 'stretch in their direction' thing. She did get a hold of one bird once a few years ago... didnt pounce it, but wrapped her paws around it as though hugging it. I ended it there as I didnt want to risk anything further. Quite amusing in my house sometimes.

ROFL.........that cat :(|):(|)
Do you think she knows she's a puss?
Our dog checks out our budgie, but there's nooo way we'd trust her near Tommy! :{

hee. the tales I could tell about my animals' antics. I will have to tell you about the ninja-parrot, Mimi, playing hide and seek and midnight cat-pouncings sometime.

I found a picture of Piggy when I first got her.

Her hair is longer now but that's what she looks like pretty much. She has red eyes.

A picture of her baby boy a few days after I found him (TOTAL surprise. What happened was I was given/adopted a second pig, I was told was female. Sadly, that piggy died not long after I got him, but it seems he left a little surprise gift as this baby was born. he's gone to a good home now and I keep in touch with his new owners)

awwwwww what a cutie she is i love her hair x)x)x)
Gosh yes she was a little bundle xoxo
In other pets you should put up a thread about your Parrot :))

Thanks! She is a sweetie. I'll try to take pics of her from the side.

I actually got her at a pet store i used to work at when I worked there two years ago (wow. two years ago! or wel, 1.5 or so). She was a wee baby then. The piggy I had wanted was sold to a customer... I was a bit sad but he went to a good home. All the other girls said to buy Piggy, thinking she was ugly (she looked a lot like Bad hair Day Extreme, as it was halfway between short and long, an ugly brown-grey, with her red eyes that were darker than an albinos', and it was whorled every way possible). I took her, thinking she was quite cute.

Well, she has longhair genes in her it seems! she's quite the doll. VERY quiet. Sometimes I wonder if she's photosensitive as she spooks more easily than most piggies, and as I said, rarely purrs or wheeks.

and if I posted about my parrots... you guys would NEVER hear the end of it. :)) I could write a book about their antics. Maybe I will someday. It would be good humor at least.
