I have come across two guinea pigs over the years with abscesses in the throat area, both made a full recovery.

Oh and I have to add, nothing beats the relationship you can have with a Guinea pig post illness, as they seem to bond better through all the care and handling whilst ill. It's a rare thing, having this kind of bond. Not that i'd wish ill on any pet just to get this xx

I'm so glad he's doing well! I've been through an abscess with a good outcome and one with a bad outcome, so seeing the success stories always makes me so happy! They do look odd half-shaved... I have pics of Sundae like that following her abscess op! It was done right around Halloween so the kids called her Franken-Sundae!
