Elizabeth has another lump 😞

Thank you. I’m hoping this is just another one. Elizabeth has 3 fatty lipomas on her underside (we had them biopsied as they’re on her mammary line) so she is a lumpy girl
Brillo's are on the mammary line too.

Gosh. That’s huge 😢

I know 😞 It does look bigger in the pic but it’s about golf ball sized. It literally popped up from nowhere but there’s huge risks to remove it, she would probably lose her leg and suffer a massive blood loss so my vet doesn’t recommend removal for those reasons 😞 x

Maybe see if Wiebke could get her seen by Simon, while she’s with her! When Rosie came to us, her previous vets had said it wouldn’t be safe to remove her massive lump and kept prescribing antibiotics. I honestly thought she’d need to be euthanised, as the lump was huge and also ulcerated. Simon took one look at it and said oh that should be fairly easy to remove!

The lump is a fatty lump sitting on the outside of her leg and adhering to it rather firmly. It is not inhibiting her mobility. She has a number of fatty lumps but they are the normal kind that is partially embedded in her body. It's come up quickly in April over Easter but has been stable since then. Because of its prominent location it is sticking out so much.

Since Elizabeth has just been found to have enlarged lymph nodes all over her body yesterday, an operation is not an option anyway. If I have to see the Maddocks as an emergency, it will be for a different reason depending on whether the nodes react to the prescribed antibiotic or not, and whether Elizabeth will require high levels of painkillers. :(

I must admit, the lump does look worse in photos due to the way she sits. The lump is sitting firmly attached to her leg / hip and to be honest, I don’t want to risk her losing her leg which my vet has said is very likely to happen if he operates and it’s a risk I don’t want to take plus it’ll be a huge op and then there’s the risk of high blood loss 😞 Of course, if the lump were to ulcerate which my vet says is low risk as it’s on her side, we’d have to rethink on whether to go through with the op.

So far she’s mobile and happy and even though her future is uncertain due to her swollen lymph nodes and whether it’s lymphoma or an infection, I’d rather her only go to see Simon if it’s absolutely necessary for Wiebke and her husbands sake after all the emergency vet trips with Edward last summer 😞

I’m just sorry that this has happened at the most inconvenient of times 😞 x

You can never choose when your piggies fill and what from. Not your fault, just cosmic bad luck.

So stressed out over Elizabeth 😞 I have to face facts that her big fatty lipoma has slightly grown and is now reaching the back of her leg 😞 I’m worried it’s going to rub on the ground and ulcerate or something 😞 She’s ever so slightly limping as she walks. I’m so worried. It looks worse because of the way she’s sat but I don’t know what to do 😞

Try not to worry, if she was in any pain she would be most likely be not eating and losing weight. Is there any way you can get her to see Uncle Simon, he is such a great surgeon?
Sadly getting her to Simon isn’t an possible as I’m currently not able to drive and getting a lift isn’t possible. My vet explained that her lump is firmly attached. They’d be too much blood loss due to its size and location and she would probably lose her leg or her life 😞 But she isn’t losing weight and is still acting her usual self. I’m just so worried and can’t bear to lose another piggy so soon after Ella 😞 x

Can fully understand your concerns Claire x

Keep a close eye on it, that it doesn’t rub on the ground and ulcerate. That’s what had happened to Rosie, before she came to TEAS. She was also struggling to walk. I honestly thought Simon would say nothing could be done, but he poked and prodded it and said that should be easy enough! She went in next day and he removed it. Unfortunately she’s rather prone to lumps, so her and her friends are in permanent foster care, so we can remove any more, as soon as they appear! She needed one more removing and has another that’s being monitored! IMG_0519.webp

Poor Rosie 😞 but I’m so glad Simon was able to remove it. Elizabeth’s lump is more to the side but I’ll keep a close eye on it. It ulcerating and affecting her ability to walk is my worse nightmare 😞 She’s had her lump for 6 months but it’s grown again. Elizabeth is also prone to fatty lumps x

I am sorry to hear this Claire. Have you got some vetbed, it's brilliant for piggies with limited mobility to sit on as it locks the urine underneath. When I use it for my oldies I put newspaper underneath for the urine to soak into. I bought some off cuts on ebay and then cut them to pee pad size bits to put in main sitting areas and beds.

Thank you. No I haven’t but I shall take a look. I’m worried she’s going to get urine scald or something 😞 x
