Hi, this is a bit of random question! Would it be safe to use an empty, cardboard, egg box to put food in for my little pigs? Has any one else used them? Thanks!

I can't see why not as long as it gets removed if it gets soggy or dirty :)

What a great idea! I just currently throw mine out in the recycle bin, but I can see where they would come in useful as food dishes for my 2 boys, who are happy to eat side by side so long as there are 2 dishes! I think they would be perfectly safe until they get wet or dirty as theoretikos has said.

I dont eat eggs but I steal egg boxes of family who still do eat them, the pigs love them fill them up with readigrass/treats and they chew into them :-)

You've stolen my idea ! I do it all the time its safe as long as the egg yolk hasent been spiled in there ! :)

That's great, thank you. I knew it they wouldn't be any good if there was egg yolk in there but just wanted to check that they were otherwise ok. I shall put mine to use tonight!

I make my own cardboard bedding to "bulk" out my normal bedding, I out a layer of cardboard bits underneath either aubiose or woodbased cat litter. I sit for hours tearing up cardboard on an evening lol. I use egg boxes as well as plain (non printed) cardboard boxes that I "acquire" whilst going round shops and from my family who save them up for me.

Hi Briony, sorry I didn't reply more quickly but I've not been on line much. I can't take any credit for the drawing; I got it from the internet somewhere. It looks like my handsome little man Pip (from one side) and is a bit different, so I thought I'd use it!
