Edwards lost weight 😞

That's great news that Edward's weight is stable, if it has been stable for a week and there's nothing to suggest he is ill then I think you can breathe a well-earned sigh of relief and go back to weighing weekly :) x

Thank you. He’s showing no signs of illness :) It’s still a mystery why he lost weight in the first place x

Morning. Many reasons why weight loss. Florence is down 100 since her op. 9 weeks or so and bless her she eats good and bad stuff but try as we do . So I try not to worry about it.
If Edward is eating pooping etc then in my view it's ok. Hugs. Xx

Thank you. Bless Florence, she’s happy and healthy and that’s the main thing x

Aww our smallest Leia (pictured middle) has never made it quite to a kilo 😂 She’s about 980g.

Our 4th one, which we rescued in January after she was left to die (not in the group photo need to update!) weighed about 550-600g and was all bone and scruff. I was so scared she wouldn’t make it through the night when I finally got my hands on her. She and her cage mates had been abandoned and the other two had died and she was traumatised from being in there with their bodies. The owner said she’d been left there 2-3 weeks. But we got her eating and drinking. At first she didn’t have the energy to move even though you could tell she was scared she didn’t move to hide and just sat hunched with dull eyes. Broke my heart and I was in a panic trying to help this little pig. But she started eating.

We had her in a little 2x3 CC cage next to our trio’s CC cage and prayed she’d make it through. The vet advised not to put her with ours until she was stronger but they had seen each other through the grids. Ours started chewing the grids trying to get to her and we thought we better make a neutral space and introduce them the next day as the new one (now called Nugget) had shown interest in being with them too. Anyway we woke up the next morning and my boyfriend was like errr come look in the cage! I went and looked and there was Nugget bold as brass sat under the tunnel in the main cage with our three! In the night she had jumped onto the tunnel in her smaller cage and jumped over to be with them! And they were all friends so we didn’t need to oversee any bonding they took it into their own paws! 😂 we didn’t think she had that in her.

Now she’s the biggest of all of them even beating Ginger who was always the heaviest. I think Nugget‘s like 1.24kg now! She’s so chunky. I guess being starved almost to death will do that. I also couldn’t tell if she was like a rex breed cos she was just a scruff when we got her and her hair was falling out in clumps. But now she’s got a huge afro and it’s clear she’s a beautifel texel with beautiful black and ginger ringlets.

Just wanted to reassure that although they’re fragile animals and weight loss can be scary, that they can survive a lot and to show you how Nugget recovered when she was half the weight she should have been :) I’m sure you’re doing a great job looking after Edward.

Here’s some photos of Nugget’s transformation x
