Dry Skin?

I've noticed that my piggy that's a teddy hates being touched everywhere except his head, I didn't think much about. But sometimes clumps of hair stick out and I gently pull it and it looks like dry skin with hair on it. If you look into his skin you can see little bits of it. I'm not exactly sure if it is skin, could use some help.

That'll be dead skin, yeah. So it could be a mites issue but I also have a teddy boar and my vet advised me that teddies just tend to have awful skin in general. I brush him weekly, starting from the butt and thoroughly brushing his fur backwards all the way up to his neck. Then I brush his fur back the correct way. This dislodges most of the dead skin and makes him more comfortable. He's very itchy all the time, poor pig, but as far as I've been told there's not much that can be done about it.

It would be best to have a vet done check first rather than just assume it is a brushing issue.

This is actually a classic sign of mites, so the first step would be to see a vet and have things like parasites and skin conditions ruled out.
If he does have a skin condition then brushing will be excruciating for him.
This may be the reason he doesn't like being touched as his skin is painful.

Thankfully if it is a skin condition they are usually easily and quickly treated.
Please arrange for him to be seen by a vet before doing anything else.
