I was at the national pet show today and bought some forage from an animal charity that was there, the forage is dried blackberry and lavender. The blackberry includes the thorns. They said this was fine to feed to my pigs but I was wondering whether anyone has had any experience feeding dried brambles to guineapigs

I have fed fresh brambles (with thorns) to my lot and they quite liked it.
It wasn't their favorite forage, but in fairness they didn't seem bothered by the thorns either.
The only thing I did was make sure to cut it into quite small lengths (5 - 6cms per piece) as I had visions of a guinea pig running under a long piece and getting trapped by thorns - mine do like to play with their food!

My rabbits love to eat brambles (fresh) thorns and all. Havent got my new guinea pigs yet but will be trying them with brambles. Will read this thread with interest.

They had thistles drying for winter too! I'm pretty sure they must be able to eat them as they were a rescue so they must have tried it. I'm just interested to know what others think...

Sorry completely off subject but need an answer. Found bothe 4 year old guineas dead the morning after bonfire night, both were very healthy could it be the noises of fireworks or?

I'm so sorry! Was a cause of death found? I suppose fireworks may have triggered a heart attack, did you check to see if the noise frightened them? My boys aren't really bothered, some pigs get hugely freaked out. We have a Rainbow Bridge section for bereaved owners, if you'd like to post.

No it wasn't just seems strange as they both died on the same night, noise didn't really seem to bother them .we don't get on with the neighbours just hoping it's nothing to do with them

I feed my boys dried blackberry leaves, some of them have little thorns on them. The larger thorns I cut the ends off with scissors, but the smaller ones don't seem to both them too much!
