I currently have 2 14 week old boars and one of them has started shaking his bum when he walks and he purrs when he walks aswell. My other piggy just squeaks as he walks around. They also generaly sleep in seperate parts of the cage.

Is this a sign of dominance?

3 boars

I have 3 boars (16 week old brothers). They sometimes do that too. Nothing has ever come of it and the one being rumbled at moves away swiftly. Yes I think it is dominance and * have been advised by forum members just to keep an eye on it. My 3 all sleep separately too.

I have 2 Sows ( sisters ) 16 wheeks old and they both did it..although Cocoa did it more..they appear to have settled this week and Cocoa is top dog rolleyes

I have two exactly the same, one bum wiggler and one that's totally laid back. The bum wiggling is a sign of dominance, it's normal and nothing to worry about. If they were to start fighting then you would need to worry. As long as they have ample space, and at least one more hidey than piggie then things should be fine :) It's funny as my dominant piggie is always strutting his stuff, but the laid back one couldn't care less lol xox

Yes its just sorting the pecking order between them. I did think a fight would break out when Ollie had raised hair but she soon calmed down.

Bailey is like that. As soon as i take them out of there hutch and move them to indoors or the hutch Bailey always wiggles his bum and grumbles. They do sleep together and follow each other around but bailey does most of the grumbles. When i had to take bailey out for his medication he would be really bad once i placed him back in with Oscar. Oscar just stays out the way :) They have never had a fight and seem to be getting closer each day.

rocky is a bum wiggler the other 3 boys just seem to think he's an idiot and ignore him :)

mine are 2 now and they are always doing it they have never ever had a full on fight . they dont sleep together one up on down and seen to swap every night they only slept together when first got them . i laugh at them and tell them to pack it in , its so funny to see one strutting his stuff and the other blanking him out

One of my boys Earnie is a bum waggler as we call him and grumbles at Dexter. Dexter, the more chilled of the two simply moves away but they always snuggle up together. Yesterday whilst out on the lawn Earnie spotted a pigeon outside the pen eating some bread I'd put out. Earnie then pro eeded to waggle his bum and grumble at him too..... Hilarious.

This is a dominance thing but don't worry too much and just keep an eye on them. X
