Hello, me again & sorry it’s late. I think Iv found why princess has matts near bottom area as tonight during handling I noticed a white discharge coming out of the vagina & cleaned some bits off that had gone crusty around it which had caused the fur to get little mats & sticky. I dont think this is normal for a female pig so I’m phoning vets first thing. She’s been at the vets already & has been going to what looks like from her tummy area a lot so I think this is some type of infection & this has been why she hadn’t been herself. I just knew something was wrong that’s why she was at vet last week or week before & I suspected it was dental as she’s been teeth chattering when getting handled & chewing on nothing but I think it’s her way of saying somethings wrong as she was such a sweet loving pig who adored cuddles. Hopefully will get a phone consultation tomo with vet & they will give me antibiotics or something for her to see if it clears up. I’d say to anyone reading this that trust your instinct when you think something isn’t right even if the vets not found anything. Iv been checking her all over when handling because she’s not been right & haven’t noticed the discharge till now as I checked before.

Hi!

Is the discharge looking like dried milky urine that has dried and gone powdery/crusty? In this case you haven't got anything to worry about. It is the natural way of the body to discharge excess calcium; your girl has either sat or slept in the puddle. ;)

Oh gosh I hope that’s all it is. The discharge coming out of her vagina was white & I noticed crusty bits that were white & hard around the area that I cut off with scissors. Around her bum was all crusty(the fur I mean) like it had dried there for a while so I got rid of that also & got the mats 😊 thankfully she was an angel tonight letting my partner hold her while I cleaned& snipped so she will be much more comfortable. I just know somethings not 100% right with her & she still keeps going to her tummy near back end but doesn’t stay to groom as she would while cleaning herself just goes down & straight up. Sorry it’s hard to describe. It was just the discharge coming out of her vagina that worried me so thought I better post. X

Last couple days she’s been teeth chattering when handled, not all the time & tries to nip you if you go hear her tummy. All I know could be absolutely normal & just a case if I don’t like that mum so please stop but it’s a worry as she’s never done that before she’s always been the docile one from the time we took her home, with that & the chewing on nothing now this I’m worried somethings not right. Can they get vaginal discharge when in heat or anything like that? X
