I do not know what is in GG pad cream?. Do you have a Waitrose near you? I use one of their products with the peculiar name of Baby Bottom Butter!,it has no chemicals and is a very good barrier, and smells lovely.Another thing you could use is Kamilosan which you can buy in supermarkets, chemists or health food shops.

we don't have a waitrose on the island >:( i got the GG cream when i noticed her pads were sore :( i'll go look whats in it O0
this is whats in it O0 Simmondsia, chinensis, calendula officinalis, hypericum perforatum, olea europaea ? i think it's more for hard/cracked skin actually now looking at it ::) do you think it would do the job? ? thanks :)

i don't know, where would you get it from?
I feel really bad about this, :'( think it's down to the bedding, it's just not absorbant enough, there's me thinking it would be better than shavings! Well in a sense it is, anyway i'm going to a livestock supplies shop tomoorow and they can get some megazorb in for me so that'll be a great help. O0 Plus, they'll start to get cleaned out every day i think and before long hopefully they can be in the run for most of the day :) they come out for a couple of hours floor time and then cuddle time on top of that, but they're still in the hutch quite a lot O0

hi
i've just washed her pads and her bottom and given her a trim round the bottom O0 it is longer than just plain shorthaired, so i cut the long bits O0 i tried a patch test of the GG ointment but she came up in a rash on her ears (patch test area) so i washed it off again, so obviously i can't use that. i went to a chemist and they said they hadn't heard of kamilosan ::) so i'm going to e-mail chrissie at GG and see if she has an alternative O0

have ordered some gel from GG chrissie said it is soothing and cooling and helps to reduce redness/scalding in the skin :smitten:
in the meantime do you think something like sudocreme/vaseline would be ok? or shall i just wash the pads every day?

Kamilosan is nipple cream designed for breast feeding mothers for sore cracked nipples. It is safe for guineas as well as sucking babies! I used it when breast feeding. You can get it any any chemist :)

will try and get some today, i'll go to a bigger chemist LOL ;D :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

ok thanks mary O0 washed her feet yesterday as well and my lovely haircut seems to be doing the trick now, not the most fashionable of styles though! ;D she's got such thick hair :o thickest of the lot :o yeah so she's all clean and they are now getting cleaned every day so it's doing the job :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

I emailed the lady from Gorgeous Guineas for advice on what products I should get and she told me that my Linus has a dirty grease gland and that they need to be cleaned so as not to attract parasites, maybe this is what happened to him :( either way vet trip will be on Thursday. If you haven't seen the picture in another post here he is, dirty grease gland above the bum

oh yeah so he has O0 well what you can do is get some swarfega, i don't know if you can get it though and rub it in until you feel the grease breaking down, then leave it for a minute and rinse it all off with warm water O0 if you do this every time he gets grotty that should keep the parasites away O0
