Ahh that's lovely of him. What a nice man. We could do with more of him :) I really hope hope he gets it fixed for you, you must be missing it like crazy :( Sometimes I wonder why any of us have insurance 'cause they always manage to wriggle out of paying up! :tickedoff:

yeah, there's a mobility allowance which the car is on, so can't have a chair on it. Once you're 18 all help with monies/other benefits go out the window!
However... the wheelchair shop people have managed to get them to cough up! :D
Without independence though for a week :(

Ooh thats fab news! Good on them for doing the work then getting the money. So many people want money first these days.

Yeah, the manager, Nick or Mick (I forget) is all for caring that I have lost my independence. He knows that he will get the money as we took the insurance stuff with us and his receptionist called and sorted it out ;)

Thats great news! Thanks heavens for Mick/Nick the Nice Man! :D

My brother has an electric chair at work - if something happened to it he would struggle to do his job, so I am going to tell him to check his insurance will cover it for wear and tear after reading whats happened to you Kelly. Or tell him to lie if anything does happen and say it was an accident!
Insurers are cr*p - they must make so much money out of us and trying to get any of it back is like pulling teeth.. grrrr. :tickedoff:

afraid most insurers don't cover that, but they reckon that chairs can last forever! errmm I think not! It wasn't a blatant lie that mine was an accident - but at the moment it seems that it what's needed

We know that chairs don't last! We have to upgrade his manual wheelchair every few years - usually because he has grown!

Anyway I will see him next weekend, will ask him if its covered. You shouldn't have to worry about stuff like this, there are so many people taking the p*ss with Motobility and benefits, but it always seems the genuine ones get done over by the system. Sometimes I think it pays to be hard faced and lie, but most of us are too nice..

Totally agree with you! I'm now stuck in manual and am in so much pain - people don't realise how much you need something to live a normal life!
Wheelchairs are not all about 'cause they look good and go fast, it's 'cause they are comfy and allow you to live

my mum was at a pub one night and someone slammed a glass door into her leg... her tendon got sliced in half or somthing :( she ended up in a wheel chair for 6 weeks i think... ive always wanted one because they look like fun but i guess when you really need them and you cant actually stand up and walk around for a bit it would get really annoying... especially when your stuck in an uncomfortable manual one :(

I hope you get it back soon kelly :)

Oooh, there's nothing fun about being in a wheelchair - my bro gets handbags shoved in his face and even sometimes cigarettes from people who haven't seen him...

oh yeah! :( went out earlier and all I can see are people's bums! That's how tall I am in a manual chair, and the amount ot times I nearly got sat on!

thats so mean! you should ram 'them and say "watch where your going!" ;D that'll teach them... hopefully

My nana had to use a wheelchair for a couple of months and people would ask my grandad how she was and she was sitting right in front of them :o People can be so ignorant :tickedoff:

Have had that many a time! Then I just turn around and say 'it's my legs that don't work, not my brain thank you very much!' and they turn a lovely shade of red and can't get away fast enough! LOL 2funny

Lol, nice one Kelly. Another popular misconception of people in wheelchairs. ::)
We had a deaf patient once, well more then once, but one in particular! I was told she was stone deaf and couldn't lip read very well so we had to write down what we wanted to say. Well she understood me fine and i didn't need to write one thing down. Yes it was easier when her daughter came in and started signing, but i still looked at the patient when i spoke to her.

yeah use ankle rage instead of car rage ;)

Ooh i do that in Tesco with my trolly!

LOL I don't do it on purpose, more so when people walk out in front of me, then stare at me like I was the one at fault!

Kelly that's fantastic. I know you won't have the chair for a week but you will get it back

Boss at the repair place said he will start working on it straightaway and claim the money after, he is more concerned about customer which I like :)

Got it back on Friday! Mick (for definite!) has fixed the arm - authorised by insurance. New controller on way and might have the steering/electrics done!

BUT -

Mick says that I am in need of new tyres and solid wheels - 6 in total - new arm rests, batteries and a general makeover!
Then I mentioned wanting a new chair.

Says that he will help - hopefully do finance with him to get another chair AND he will buy this chair for refurbishment or parts, but will give us a really good deal on it!

Hey I'm over the moon! Got 2 demos for chair within the next few weeks, and then hopefully from there something will be sorted! :)

sorry i've only just caught up with this one.

Bloody pain in the arse - literally if the chair is crap ;D

Hope its all gets sorted very soon. :)
