Difficult times - some support please

You mean you think they have a URI? If so I wouldnt worry too much (although getting to a vet as soon as possible is still important of course)..its one of the most common issues piggies have and the majority of the time is easily treated once theyre prescribed antibiotics. My girl unfortunately was one of the rare cases the go-to antibiotic baytril didnt work with.
I'm not sure if you can access it as I'm new here, but i posted a thread about my situation. Its not good. I'm gonna just take her to the vet myself if she doesnt help me.

Yea i just read it. I'm so sorry youre in this crappy situation. It always annoys me so much when I read about minors (i think it said youre under 18) wanting to help their pets but being let down by their parents/guardians. I hope you can get her to a vet soon. Id reccomend picking up some critical care and probiotics while youre there (if they prescribe antibiotics, it can give them appetite issues so the probiotics help and I'm not sure if you already have critical care but its handy to have just in case you need to step in with syringe feeding) Let us know when you get seen and how things go! Praying for this situation to get better for you

If i were in that situation where my pet is sick and parents wouldnt allow me take her to a vet the solution is simple. I'd ask a friend to make the vet appointment, on that day i'd let my friend take her in a carrier and have friend explain the sickness to the vet. I pay my friend for my vet bill, trip whatever.

The biggest irony is when i visited petco/petsmart for 6 years for thier food all i hear/see is parents getting pets for thier kids so they willingly get thier kids guinea pigs or allow them to get guinea pigs. so its odd for that same parent to say "oh shes sick we cant take her to the vet". The whole point of owning a pet is taking care of them so its odd to see one sick and someone (parents) refuse help.

I had a guinea pig with an upper respiratory infection and the breathing noises she made were very obvious. I honestly stayed away from vets for years but there are certain things only thier medications can help. A breathing issue deep in the lungs is one of them. She will be put on an anti-biotic and it is advised to get a pro-biotic and critical care. As others have said an anti-biotic especially if its baytril (mostly used for Repiratory issues) "could" mess up thier appetitite. pro-biotics and critical help with this.
