Hi everyone,

I wanted to start a thread to post images of my boys; Cappuccino and Mocha (Cappy and Mokey for short). I felt starting a thread here would be better than continuing using the introductionary section. Little background below.

I have had my boys for a little over a month. I rescued them from an over crowded cat and dog shelter. The shelter had them since July. They were found abandoned on the side of the road. I believe in a cage from someone who couldn’t care for them. This story alone pushed me to take them under my wing.

Clipped their nails for the first time this past weekend. I have a 2x6 c&c cage. Two hideys. Two water bottles. Two tunnels. Two hay basins. The boys get a small amount of veggies in the am while I get ready for work.
The boys get their remaining portion at night when I get home. I generally put a tbs of pellets below their veggies. I provide them with two bowls even though they don’t have an issue eating together.

Cappy is dominant because he constantly rumbles at poor mokey. Mokey is the talker. He uses his voice to submit to cap. Cappy has really noticeable, at times, large testicles. Mokey I have never seen them before but they shelter said they were both boys and had them together for 4 months.

I did not sex them but I presumed after 4 months there would have been a litter or two.

Great forum here and I have learned so much! Cannot wait to show off the boys and grow with the community!

TL/DR: pictures of my boys below.

They are gorgeous. Glad you managed to bring them home and give them a wonderful forever home 😍

They are beautiful and their cage is fabulous.
Well done for rescuing them - they have really landed on their paws with you!

What gorgeous boys and lucky to have found a home with you.
I love these dedicated threads of piggy pictures :luv:

I'm so happy they went from dumped at the side of the road then living in a crowded non piggy shelter, to this piggy palace and a loving owner ❤️ I love it when good things happen!
Hello Cappy and Mokey 😊

Aw, your boys are very handsome 💙💙 well done you for taking them in and giving them such a lovely home. One of my piggie‘s Hector was found abandoned with 5 other young boars in a hedge in the middle of winter, people can be so heartless

Took the boys out for a carrot snack as I accidently clipped Cappuccino’s nail too short. Minor (3 pebble sized spots) blood. Pictures of them eating.
Blood was dry before I placed them back in their home. Cappy didn’t even squeal or yelp in pain.
My girlfriend told me she needs to examine the nails before I cut them next time.

Not sure if my results are bad or good? I feel bad I didn’t get them in sooner especially because these issues could have possibly been prevented?

Mocha has conjunctivitis in his left eye! The vet said that he probably got his eye poked with hay. I was given eye drops to administer 3 times a day for him (picture attached.

Cappuccino has lice. My exotic vet said that this rarely occurs in guinea pigs and I have not seen very many posts on this form about that. But maybe in Europe there is a different name for them? Revolution was prescribed by the doctor and I have to go back in one month and then in two months because the doctor has to base it off of their weight. She gave it to both pigs just in case even though she did not see any on mocha.

I was also given a few syringes for critical care feeding and also to administer vitamin C daily (picture attached).

I feel like a bad dad 😞😖☹️ They are both hiding from me 😢

Aw you're the complete opposite. Some piggies get hay poke a lot and it's a good piggy owner who takes them for checkups. It's great you did and picked up some issues. We're not vets and piggies hide things. I've had two health issues with piggies this year, picked up at checkups. Your boys will get a bit more used to vet/meds and will forgive you quicker as time goes on 😊

Just fed the boys. Snapped a pic of them eating. Mocha still has a crusty left eye. I have administered eye drops 3x a day. Hopefully this clears up soon.

The lice I’m not sure of the progress? They aren’t itching as much. However, I do not have a magnifying glass to check.

The boys LOVE their vitamin C in the syringes now! Took a few days but they are hooked!

Little update. Totally cleaned their cage again last night. Hits about day 3 and voila daddy has to put them out for a2-3 hour floor time😍

The boys now LOVE their syringe fed vitamin C! They suck on the syringe like a baby on their mama’s breast! Cappy and mokey are really starting to become a cute bonded pair! The boys now lay close to each other.

Have a good day everyone! A few snaps of last night but the piggies were in hiding! See if I can snap a few this AM while feeding them!

Lovely spoilt piggies :luv:
Think I’d personally just give them a handful of coriander or some red pepper instead of the vitamin c from a vet, sure they’d much prefer that!
My Cleo had lice when she arrived last year (horrible things! :yikes:) so I had to treat all 4 of my piglets, it’s not much fun! (And I didn’t stop scratching!) I don’t think they’re rare in piglets though. Here’s a thread in case you didn’t spot it talking about them more, grotty little beggars.
New Guinea Pig Problems: Sexing & Pregnancy; URI, Ringworm & Parasites; Vet Checks & Customer Rights
And here’s my thread with my Cleo in case it’s helpful with info (originally thought she had mites when I freaked but then realised lice! :yikes:)
Cleo’s got mites! 😡

You’re definitely not a bad dad, great you spotted them and got them treated as well as Mocha’s eye! :D
Hope both piggies are feeling better already and lovely they’re bonding and laying together! Hope they enjoyed their floortime! :D

Hi everyone!

Just and small update. Dr. Goodman perscribed Mocha a new set of eye drops (ciprofloxacin ophthalmic solution) as his eye was still crusty and gooey after a week of Gentamicin Sulfate Ophthalmic Solution. Seems, like humans, certain antibiotics do not always work.

Cage cleaned last night (2am while on fortnite😝)

Question - has anyone had any success with guinea dad’s hay? My boys abolutely love their products! Not sure if we are allowed to link to their productions but google will bring them up.

Mocha’s rump. Cappucchino’s chilling out.

Sorry never tried it with my gang, hope they enjoy it if you give it a go!
Hope the new eye drops work for Mocha too :)

Thank you! Mocha’s eye is better and I have stopped the eye drops.

Last night the boys were so rambunctious doing laps, popcorning and cappy’s rumblestrutting. Tonight the guys were very quiet.

Two photos from breakfast this morning.
