Dental work

Hi all, quick update. Rollie (with fozz) spent two nights back at the vets to get fed up (fozzy doesn't need it!) and checked over. They're back home now as rollie has begun to eat hay and some nuggets again. The vets were confident with the progress he'd made and he certainly seems quite lively again. He's (just this second) used his water bottle and is currently eating unsoftened nuggets.

Think he's still getting used to his teeth as there's a weird sound as he eats. Either that or he's got a new pair of dentures!

Thanks everyone for your comments, help and support. Fingers crossed he is now on the mend!

@furryfriends (TEAS) I'm still planning on seeing Simon this week just to have him check everything over and make sure he's happy with Rollie's teeth. Better to be safe than sorry.

Hope Rollie continues to improve.
It’s hard on us because we want them to be better immediately and feel helpless when we can’t make it happen.

That's so true. I felt so helpless on Saturday and just knew I couldn't leave him not eating or taking cc. Felt like it was the start of a slow mo chain reaction. You just know that there are several other critical things that can arise from any illness or circumstance.

One more day to go! I feel as though there is still something that's not quite right. Been a week since his op and not eating as I would hope he would be. He does eat but it's just not quite right.... Just need Simon to check things over I think. His weight is up 20g from yesterday so positive steps but still 100g from when Simon saw him last!

Thanks all. Even if Simon just gives us his opinion I'd be happy. I wonder whether any of the teeth need reshaping or something? Will be so relieved to see him, its felt like a long couple of weeks!

Hope all goes well at the vets, Simon’s great at finding those little, tiny bits causing trouble other vets seem to miss!

Epic trip. Thanks to traffic and road closures, the 142mile round trip has taken 6 hours! Worth it to see Simon though.
Yes travelling is a nightmare 300 miles back home on Thursday from Simon’s but a good trip, no major hold ups 5 hours, best yet. Total 800 plus miles round trip to North Yorkshire, back home via Northampton, boys just chill out and snooze most of the way ( we stay and visit family and friends up there)

It's amazing how resilient they are with travelling. We take them to Lincolnshire when we visit and the first time I was so worried. Would love to know how many miles they've clocked up! How are they after their dental work?

They are resilient, just as well as we don’t have any piggie savy vets down here really, well none that do dentals properly!
Ours have definitely clocked up at least 4000 miles up to now x

I don't think he's stopped eating today. Weirdly he's developed a new love for hay. I think Simon swapped him for a lookie-likey Guinea pig when he took him out back.
My Ted always goes off hay when his teeth are becoming a problem, Bill has always eaten more hay, but again he struggles with his incisors when they overgrow.

I always think of the puppy pads every time I clean them out. Sadly don't get newspapers so can't use those. Need some sort of green alternative to puppy pads. 🤔

I was the same then found these! They're super absorbant under the fleece and I just wash them with the fleece to!
