I gave my sister a lift to a suburb of Nottingham I don't usually go to today (Bulwell) and nipped in to a pet shop just for a bit of a nosey. Well the first impressions weren't great because the woman behind the till had a cigarette on which I'm dead againt in enclosed areas especially with my daughter with me & caged birds about 1m from her. I asked if they had any Guinea Pigs so she said they have one left at the back of the shop upstairs.
When I got up there there was a man sitting there - quite friendly but it stank of smoke. On the floor there were about 4 indoor cages, only the 1m ones each with a rabbit & her babies. The piggie was sitting in a bigger cage than some of the rabbits but he was completely bald on his back spare a few tufts. As my sister knows me too well sometimes (she wanted to avoid a show down!) she grabbed my arm & dragged me downstairs where the cigarette woman asked me what I thought, to which I replied " I think he has a serious fungal infection which needs treating" very loudly so the whole shop could hear. The woman said oh its fine its only where he's been fighting & its cream that has made him like that 98) to which I felt my sister frog march me out onto the street :tickedoff:

I think I'm about to make a phone call!

I don't really know Bulwell that well but it is the shop at the end of a walk way thingie! don't know really how to explain it. There is a cafe & baby shop down the alley way too. It certainly does sound like the same stinking place. It makes me physically shudder when I think about it. I wan't a happy bunny believe me.

Horrible place, I got Casper from there when they were a 'rescue' too! >:(

Well thats 3 out of the 5 Nottingham people who have said the place is a dump. It really is a horror show.

OMG, I know where you mean, I went in there only once and she noticed how long i was looking at the baby bunnies..oohing and arring, she then tried to sell me a 3 week old baby bunny! I said no and almost slapped her, before my bf dragged me out.
it was a long time ago though, but nice to know it hasn't changed.
So yes, this place is a sh!thole!

Its the one I mentioned and I shudder evertime I think of that place I reported her before because of a mite ridden piggie. Nothing was done about it. I then got the piggie out of there took him to the vets straight away ,but sadly he died a couple of days later still makes me weep now thinking about that poor piggie and gggggrrrrrrr at that VILE woman.

I can't believe you know it too GTF. I seriously can't believe that places such as that still exisist. I know I get on my Guinea soap box alot when it comes to pet shops but this is a seriously nasty place. She seriously needs shutting down because I believe that she won't be changed for the better.

My pet shop is much better than all yours, sorry but have to say our loacl pet store is nice....well one of them

time to act methinks ;)
Shaz its a lot worse than the one in town. I have been in that petshop in bulwell just a handlefull of times and have never purchased anything. Its more than shocking and I have reported them nothing was done well bet that vile woman(the owner) gave the inspector a back hander to keep :-X when he called in. Its been open years too hidden up that alley. I am going to bulwell tomorrow might pop in (shuddering here) but would need a bodyguard in case she remembers me.
