Covid

I’ve noticed that many people are now wearing masks again in the supermarket. Not sure if that’s because they think they are vulnerable to germs or because they fell that they are carrying germs (and therefore it’s a courtesy to other shoppers). But I’ve heard that there are several autumnal viruses circulating at the moment in addition to Covid.
I was thinking about getting my masks out again because of everything that’s going around.

Maybe think about this....

The particles of a virus are way too small for a mask to protect you from it. Also, masks reduce our oxygen levels and increase CO2 in our body to dangerous levels. If masks protected us against viruses, why haven't we been wearing masks for years, every cold & flu season?

In the Far East, masks were common before Covid. Here we didn't bother with masks because most people have some resistance to bugs due to exposure, and a cold or even flu wasn't anything to worry about - except for the elderly or vulnerable, who could get flu jabs on the NHS. Covid causes more serious illness or fatalities than flu.

Also when you cough or sneeze, you're not just sneezing out microscopic virus particles; those particles are in saliva or nucus which mostly can't go through a mask, and that which does is slowed down and unlikely to penetrate other people's masks.

I note that the Brownstone Institute is a right-wing libertarian think-tank with a predetermined position, not an established & respected scientific research body...

If that's what you want to believe, then that is your choice. But it still doesn't mean that all the '170' studies on there, which state that masks are ineffective and harmful, are not scientifically and factually correct. Also, people in Asia wear/wore masks because of the air pollution, the same way that surgeons/dentists etc., wear masks to prevent contamination by bacteria and not viruses!

The only way to fully protect yourself against a viral outbreak is to wear a Hazmat suit!

Another study, from 2020.....

“Researchers in Denmark reported on Wednesday that surgical masks did not protect the wearers against infection with the coronavirus in a large randomized clinical trial”

A lot more people round here are wearing masks too. I really don't want to start that again - I really disliked wearing a mask (I felt I couldn't breathe properly and they made my glasses steam up :()

I'm pleased to say I've now got my covid booster booked for next Friday - same day as my flu jab, but I'm having it at a local pharmacy as my surgery isn't doing covid jabs.

Don't wear a mask then, they don't work, see my post above...

Me and my parents had both our Covid and flu jabs this morning. I have a sore arm and am starting to feel cold.

I do think that the Covid jab should be available to anyone who wants it like the flu jab even if they have to pay for it. My mother in law works in a supermarket and has had Covid 3 times now although thankfully mild. She missed out on being eligible for the Covid jab by a few months and has said she’d gladly pay to have the jab if it were available x

Fully agree, we're not eligible and having just had all three of us with COVID, I would love to avoid a repeat! Will be paying for a flu jab soon as well, anything to make things a bit easier next time!
