Oh I'm not sure, I have no experience with this but I am glad she seems to be on the mend. Fingers crossed, she sounds such a lovely old darling :smitten: :smitten:

Sometimes this happens with eye drops. I don't think it's anything new to worry about.

I'm still a bit worried about her eye this evening. She keeps blinking as if she is trying to get something out and seems to be watering but not crusty. The eye was nearly closed where she keeps blinking but after I wiped away the tears/solution (I don't know what it is) the eye is now more open. Checked eye but can't see anything in it like hay. I can see like a clear film across the bottom half of the eye. The blueness seems to have gone.

Ive just been reading about eyes on the Guinea Lynz website and it says that guineas produce whitle, milky like substance from their eyes and then use this to wash their face using their paws. Because she's not very mobile anymore could this solution in the corner of her eye be that? It only happens in this eye though and it doesn't really explain the clear film starting to cover her eye from the bottom up. Just rambling now, trying to think of possiblities.

perhaps wash out the eye with pre boiled water, she may have poked it with straw or hay. hoping when you wake up her eye will be much better. sending you both hugs :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: girls send :-* :-* :-*

I found the culprit. I washed her eye out a few times last night and found a piece of hay that was behind the eye poking out the side. It was nearly 1/2cm long. No wonder shw was sore, poor thing. I wonder if that was what caused the ulcer? The vet didn't wash the eye out or anything. :)

OWWWWWW! Poor darling. That must have hurt. Well done for dealing with that. Best wishes to you both for a speedy recovery.

am so happy for you and ginger :D :D :D :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:(no happy icon) glad you washed it out like i said, and very :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: with vet. i know when mine have had a bit of hay in their eyes they sometimes squeal when i have pulled it out. :'( :'( :'( hoping your angel gets better now and will be back to her normal self in no time. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: perhaps next time you go to the vet you could ask it they put this stuff in her eye and then they turn the light off and her eye will glow green in the dark so they can see if the hay/straw did any damage to the eye itself. am so truly happy for you and ginger hugs :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: and the girls send :-* :-* :-*

Thanks Chloe. The vet did put the dye in her eye and half the cornea was damaged. When she went back 4 days later it had shrunk to a quarter. Hopefully now she wont need to go backas the eye is looking so much better but I'll carry on using the eye drops for 14 days to be on the safe side. That's the maximum time liit mentioned on the bottle.

Good news - it looks like Ginger's eye has healed, no more blue. I don't know whether to take her back to the vets for a check up to be on the safe side?

if you're concerned then yes take her back. otherwise i would keep a close eye on it. am so glad that you didn't have to put ginger to sleep. sending hugs :smitten:
:smitten: :smitten: girls send :-* :-* :-* am so happy she is better. :smitten:
