Dear piggies slaves,

I'm not sure whether is this the right section to post this thread. If it is not, moderator please place it in the right section, thank you.

It has been over a month now since my first guinea pig, Chocolate, passed on. Ever since them, questions have been running through my mind.

* how is she doing right now?
* was she happy with me during her 6 years of life?
* was she angry with me for putting her through surgery and putting her to sleep? - on that day of surgery, when I brought her into the vet's, she kept biting her carrier wanting to come out when normally, she will just stay quiet and calm inside. When the vet examined her, she refused and tried to run to me to hide. Clearly, she knew what was going to happen and thus it explained her behaviors.
* is she still with me in spirit? - I have been trying to look out for signs that she is still around with me and stuffs. But perhaps I am not spiritually in tune.

I don't think of these questions daily but often whenever I hold and clean her urn or sometimes it just comes and go.

I started getting interested in animal communication stuffs after reading a book by Kim Sheridan, titled 'Animals and the Afterlife' and has found a animal communicator in my area. I have yet to make an appointment with her yet though

Does anyone of you ever engage an animal communicator to speak to your deceased guinea pig? What was your experience like?

i haven't but i would be interested to. my mum had a reading not that long ago and they had a few messages for me. one was that they had some animals with them - two rabbits and a guinea pig. i have lost two rabbits and one guinea pig so i felt comfort. the lady my mum see's has an amazing reputation and i would love a reading with her one day. i also 'saw' ches after he passed. some people may say hallucination but i felt such a release of emotion and comfort that i think he came to check on maisie and to say goodbye to me, because i wasn't with him at the end. 8... i never saw him again after that but i would like to know where he is now and to let him know i miss him with all my heart. x

Oh that's so sweet. I suppose your two rabbits and your piggie are together over at the rainbow bridge. I read from Kim's book saying that usually our deceased animals couldn't communicate with us therefore communicate through someone else, just like your mom and the lady who did the reading. So nice that you were able to see ches and yup I'm sure he came to pay a visit and said goodbye. Usually, people who have not experience it will think that it's our mind who is playing tricks on us. Only people who have experience such amazing incidents will understand hehe..

Can't wait to make an appointment with the animal communicator soon.. Been trying to find time from work..

let us know how it is if you do go. x

Yes I will hehe.. I read that in the book, our past pets sometimes will come back to us again. They either come back as the same species or another species..

I have the Sheridan book, it's very good.

I have also been lucky enough to be visited by some of my pets when they have passed on, but so far, none of the piggies. And I mean, a proper visitation, not just seeing a butterfly and taking it as a sign that your pet is visiting (which seems to happen quite a lot in the Sheridan book). When I have seen/heard deceased pets it's been very very obvious, and I'm guessing that pigs being quite small might have issues making themselves known.

I'm not convinced about communicators though, do be careful as some of them are no better than fraudsters.

I had a dog, during the summer she used to lie under my sun bed, one reason was so that she would know if I moved (she was glued to me!) and two, to keep out of the shade. When she became ill she gave off a terrible smell. About a year later, I was lying on my sun bed and swore I felt her move under me, then I got a whiff of the terrible smell she had given off. It took a second or two for me to remember she was gone, but I firmly believe she visited me that day. PS I do believe in the spirit world for people and animals. Hope this helps. x

Do update us with how this went.

I go to a local spiritualist church and a week before my Ludwig died they came through about me having guineapigs and how a new baby guineapig would come into my life. I jokingly said that my newish guineapig had both genders and a baby would appear.

Sadly it seemed that it was because I then lost Ludwig a week later that little Ryou then came into my life. I definitely believe in readings but there are also many phonies out there.

I hope one day I will get a message telling me how Ludwig is doing and if anyone is looking after him. I miss him dearly and often wish I could see his ghost or some kind of hint he's around.

The questions you ask...

How is she now? She is sadly deceased, if you believe in an afterlife (which you clearly do) then she is in that afterlife however you think of it. I would imagine such a place for a guinea pig to be a meadow with lush grass, warm sunshine and soft summer rain with no issues or ailments to encumber them. Personally, I don't believe in an afterlife, I believe death is finite and the only continuation is the breakdown of the elements of the body and those things passing into the world and becoming trees and flowers and birds and air.

Was she happy with you in her 6 years of life? Did you provide her with plenty of space, appropriate food and company? Did you care for her when she was unwell and try to make her feel better? If the answers to those things is yes, then I'm sure she was a very happy guinea pig.

Was she angry with you...? No. You are projecting human emotions, your own emotions, on to her, She would have had no concept of what was happening, she may have been scared by the strange environment, smells and people which would explain her behaviour.

Is she still with you in spirit? Do you believe she is? If you believe her spirit lives on then yes she is still with you in spirit.

Should you go to an animal communicator? I would say no, I don't believe a word of it, it's based on cold reading and people being highly suggestible because they are emotional and they want to hear that everything is okay. The best communicators have probably convinced themselves of the reality of it. I don't think it's fair. If there was or is an afterlife I don't see why we would be able to access it or why we should interfere with it. Beyond that a guinea pig is not going to be able to say anything more to you in death than they could in life, they have amazing characters and personalities and they touch our hearts but they are not humans and don't have human experiences and it is denying them their nature to consider that they do.

For me I couldn't keep ashes, I would have to let them pass into the world and become part of something, a flower or a tree, because for me that it how life goes on and how I know that they are all still there, a part of the world.

I mean no harm by anything I have said, I realise the sensitive nature of this subject and I hope you understand that this is my opinion and as you put the point out for discussion on an open forum I felt it was valid for me to say what I thought.

animal communicator sounds like a right load of crap to me, an obvious fraud,i assume their "services" arent free. they prey on vunerable people as it wont work on anyone else. animals cant communicate with humans in real life, yes they have ways of asking for food etc but ive yet to hear an animal speak english. might seem harsh but its a con

I think there are genuine mediums out there who can communicate with people and animals that pass over as life is energy so I can see that people can and do communicate with people/animals who have passed. However there are a lot of frauds out there x
