Febreeze just brings our dog out in a rash and sometimes Sars gets the rash too so ive stopped using it
i also find the smell disappears after an hour or so :(

My pregnant guinea is in a room at the top of the stairs so I haven't been able to hoover the stairs for weeks in case it frightens her - isn't that a shame! There's hay all up the stairs - I call it the rustic look!

I have a very understanding husband. (He's just read this and said he hadn't noticed :) )

I suppose the answer is to have carpets everywhere made of coir. Bit rough on the feet but the hay wouldn't show up!

Having said that, I've been really good today, hoovered & cleaned most of downstairs. Husband said the lounge looked like a different room when he came in - got a bit stroppy then and said, yes - it's called clean. Anyway, just going to polish my halo.

My piggies live in their shed but I have horses so if we have any visitors all I have to worry about is them getting a whiff of my coat ;D

I have horses too love going shopping in my coat after ive been filling haynets with really strong smelling haylage haha everyone within a 10 meter radius checks there boots too see if they have stepped in any poop or ask if somebody has been sick when its me hahaha

Why dont you put down some nice lino. This is fab for cleaning - our dog learnt as a puppy that he went for a pee in the bathroom of our flat - thats where his tray was...now as a grown dog he ALWAYS does a pee in there each night....we cannot get him to break the habit! easiest way to solve the mess - lay lino - we just pop down some newspaper and if he misses or messes it up its not a problem and i just mop it up. I'm thinking of turning a room into the piggie palace and will lay lino there too.

As well as the pigs in the kitchen and the dogs and the horses I also have a ferret who lives loose in the house so I am always paranoid that my house smells. But then I think well it is my house so I can do what I want! Its not as though the house is dirty - the odd bit of hay and shavings don't count!

I burn scented candles in the kitchen and the pigs are fine. The only thing I would be concerned about is using strong disinfectants -I'm sure I read somewhere that you shoudn't use anything that turns cloudy in water (phenols?) as these could be harmful.
