I'm losing the will to live with mine. How 4 pigs can do soooooooo much poo and wee I don't know. I used Megaxorb but found it an absolute pain in the butt to get all the loose bits up. Then went back to shavings and two of them started sniffling. Then thought I'd got it sussed with vet bed but find it just gets smelly, soggy and yuk.
They have a hay loft in the hut which is just newspaper and hay - so I agree with you, I think, so long as you have enough racks for them to eat from, hay on newspaper is the quickest and cleanest way to go. I buy it in bales so it's cheap enough to just throw huge handfulls in.
