As I am working Christmas day/Boxing Day, I think every so often I will add a Bah Humbug to this thread!

Are you going to do something another time and have a belated Christmas? I'm working Christmas day probably (I did last year) and Boxing day. I didn't do a belated Christmas last year, just popped into my head suddenly.

it is very hard hun but I'm just so grateful I have a lovely husband who looks after me so much.
my mum is such a cow bag, last xmas she jetted off to spain with my 7 year old sister and didnt tell anyone she was going, my sisters dad was fuming as he didnt know she had took off, I was not happy either as i didnt get to see my sister. x

Some people eh!
My eldest daughter hasn't seen her dad since new years eve 1999 (just before her 2nd birthday) and she's given up on him and his family now.
My youngest daughter sees her dad & his family once a fortnight for 6 hours but they're as good as useless.
You know the saying 'you can pick your friends but not your family' that applies to my lot lol.
Sometimes I think you're better off without certain people in your life.

I'm another one who doesn't even think about Christmas until December!!:))

That reminds me of a lovely Christmas a few years ago. We went on holiday to New Zealand for 5 weeks over Christmas. We being me, hubby and teenage son and daughter.

We went to stay with some friends who were there for a few years and we had a marvellous time! We spent a lot of the time touring round and sight seeing. NZ is amazing if you like scenery and outdoors activities, but not so good if you like shopping!

Christmas was spent with our friends and we had all the normal trimmings and turkey dinner etc. Of course it was the middle of summer there so as well as Christmas decorations and snowy Santa scenes all the shops had hanging baskets and everyone was wearing shorts!

We had a really relaxed time over Christmas. We did our Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve!! We agreed between the 4 of us to just buy each other 1 small (in size and price) present, and of course we bought our hosts presents, but that was it. Before we went away we told all the relations not to buy us anything as we weren't buying anyone any presents this year and they were quite happy! We didn't send cards either!

On Christmas Eve we went to a neighbour's barbecue and as it got dark (10pm) we all sang Christmas Carols by candelight outside as it was still warm. Magical!!

The only downside was returning to a dark, cold, wet UK in the middle of January.:(

I know exactly what you mean hun. Since ive not had much contact with them I feel much happier rather than them there upsetting me and letting me down etc. x

I making Pillowcases for everyone in my family and then adding Andies Mints in them :) Giving Pillowcases out as Christmas Gifts determines if I can start my own Pillowcase business. If I make enough money from my Pillowcases, I'll start my own site where people can donate to me and I'll donate it all to our local HS. So the site will probably be called "Pillows For Resuces"

We are having Christmas day on Christmas Eve, so that will be nice. Will try and forget about the getting up for work the following day.

We are having Xmas dinner at home this year.We usually go out,but are saving money due to job situation. My daughter and son are coming, this is the first year they haven't got their partners coming as they are both single at the moment. My daughter is bringing a friend, who does not get on with her family,so we will be sharing our Xmas with her.
I have started doing some shopping, always feel better once i have started.

To those who are all working Xmas/Boxing day what is it you do?

i used to work in a hotel doing conference and banqueting and used to always do xmas/boxing day as it meant triple pay! x

I work in a shop right near a holiday camp and the guests in the holiday camp need there bits and bobs.

I really dont know what to get hubby this xmas, he likes his cars and is a wolves fan too but not a clue where i could get football tickets from.

Hope someone can help maybe lol :(|)

Ha ha, my hubby is totally car mad (he and our son love rallying and are off to see the GB Rally next weekend) and he's a Wolves fan too. :)

Hmmmm, knowing where you can get tickets for your hubby from is a bit of a question........am having a think.

As for the xmas hols, hubby, myself and our son, usually have my Mum up for lunch and to spend the day with us, then on Boxing Day, we go to my in laws and have some xmas lunch there, lol.

Rest of the hols, just chill out before going back to work on the 4th Jan. :)
