I was thinking.
I bathe my boys about once every month to 6 weeks. They tend to smell kind of rank after about 5 weeks, so I don't like to leave them too long.

They HATE my hair dryer. The darn thing is about 7 years old, though and it makes more noise than a vacuum cleaner.

My piggies hate it. Arnold cowers in the nearest corner and Ralph squeals so much that I can't do it. He gets so stressed that I'm worried he'll have a heart attack.
Towel drying isn't enough, though. And quite often, I have to let them free range on my bedroom floor, with the heater on, so that they can dry off on their own.
I don't like doing this though. I'm worried they'll get sick one day.

I was thinking of getting a childrens hair dryer. They used to be common back when I was younger but now they seem to be extinct.
I can't find one anywhere.

Does anyone know where I can get one?
Or maybe a hair dryer that doesn't make too much noise?
I'm sure all the ladies on here own a hair dryer :(|) we must keep ourselves looking beautiful!

So can someone help me out, please?

i use my normal one on a cool setting but it also has a speed setting and they prefer the gentle breeze to the storm force speed. Maybe find one that has a multispeed setting so they are not blown away.

That's a good idea.

I'll do that.

I work in Boots, luckily and my store has a pretty big electrical beauty department. So I can easily have a look for one.
I just wanted to have an idea of WHAT to look for. I don't want to tell my friends that I'm buying a hair dryer for my Guinea Pigs :))

Although I'll probly bin my old one and use the new one, if it's a nice one. :(|)

I know and understand you're concern......i actually spoke to a friend in the US today and she voiced her concern about using blow dryers.
I think as long as you use the lowest setting / coolest setting you'll be OK, BUT also what i do, i put my hand on my piggie and let the air blow across my hand so i can judge as soon as it feels a little bit warm i move to a different area.......we have to be so careful not to burn their skin or hair :(
I've not heard of a kids hair dryer like that, i'm thinking maybe it's something the companies put out everynow and then? If so i reckon it would be of a lower wattage so safer, but i'd still be super careful and have my hand between piggie skin/hair and the dryer!

Good question tho...........one thing i was thinking of was....what about those chamois (sp) towel things that they use for drying cars, now they advertise for dogs and cats, i'm wondering if one of those is soft enough for our piggies........here's another one for discussion!

I know the ones you mean.
I didn't think of that. That might be worth looking into.

Problem seems to be solved.

I was in the car with my mother, a few minutes ago, and she randomly offers to give me her new hair dryer.
It was a present from her sister but she doesn't like it.
I actually used it this morning and it's very nice, it has a multi settings, too!

So my hair dryer problem would appear to be solved :(|)
It must be my lucky day!

No worries, I'm always extra careful.

On the times I have managed to use one, without upsetting my boys, I hold it quite high up so it's more like a warm breeze, rather than an intense blast.

I'd never forgive myself if I ever hurt one of them.
Even if it was by accident.

glad your fussy piggies can have a wash and blow dry with your new hairdryer - hope they give you good tips!

tried my pair with hairdryer hated it so just rubbed down with towel what about travel hairdryer

my Wiggy used to love lying down getting his fur dried with the hairdryer! :))
