Just heard metal noises and looked at the guinea pig cage and they were biting the bars why do they do this and what can I do to stop it

Guinea pigs will chew bars, it can be for many reasons - boredom, to get attention etc.
Always ensure they have plenty of hay as it is the best thing for them to chew on, ensure their cage is big enough and that they have plenty of enrichment to keep themselves occupied
