Capybaras Or Pigs?

Ok so you need a licence and a pond to keep them here but I would def have them if I could they are essentially giant guinea pigs. Would you have a capybara if you could?
 
Kinda yes because I love them, but in reality no because they’re wild animals and I couldn’t give them enough space for a natural life and they live in big groups too!
 
They are most lovely but not really pets.... Plus could you imagine the poo picking you'd need to do? :)

:agr: - also I’m pretty sure they are adapted to a tropical climate and England doesn’t really cut it (just yet)
 
It would be unfair on the pet,you need time,lots of space and money.i do not believe our climate would be suitable,not good to keep them indoors.

Latest defra list doesn't mention them anymore, but councils might be different. The space, company, mud, deep water, care, fencing, shelter, heat lamps etc etc. Just doesn't make them my #1 pets to consider. Plus, with how expensive they are I bet you would need to get extra security. People these days break into houses to steal fancy breed puppies. So no, I wouldn't consider them. My little one loves them, tho!
If I could choose unusual pet it would be pigmy goat as they're so happy and bouncy! But can't provide what they need. Maybe one day ❤
 
They've got them at folly farm in west Wales they spend a lot of time in water so can adapt I believe they have heated pens too. Wales not exactly a climate similar to South America lol.

I know they aren't really pets but I'd totally have them if I had the land and money and time
 
Well, at least they would have plenty of water and mud with the generous rain fall

Pygmy goats are hilarious. I don’t like goats (they just creep me out), but I don’t mind the Pygmy ones because they are so small and cute...and hurt less if they butt you.
Pregnant Pygmy goats are really something to laugh at, they look like they might explode on the next bounce.
 
If we can ever afford to have a few acres once I live in florida then yes, I need one :) We can swim together.

The year I left college they announced plans to build a capybara enclosure..I was gutted! If I had the money and space to build a suitable habitat id definitely have some! But I think i'll stick to smaller rodents XD
