My son had two lots of orthodontic work done - at one point the orthodontist thought she might have to make him wear a neck brace at night but fortunately that wasn't needed. He has lovely teeth now but still has to use the retainer at night.
He wasn't alllowed pizza crust, sticky chewy stuff, hard food, nail biting etc. He wasn't allowed to bite into an apple but was OK with small pieces of cut apple. Sometimes he needed something like bongela gum gel to ease the discomfort expectially just after the braces were tightened. However it was all worth it cos he has beautiful teeth now, so remember it will be worth it!

Lol... I dont eat the pizza crust anyway ;D weve got a tonn of Bonjella thank goodness! lol I def cant wait till I have pretty teeth :D
Thanks!

lol you're the only person i know that gets excited about having braces lol i hated mine, the first few days i couldn't eat because everything i bit into hurt :-\ Although after a few month i found that i could have them in purple and white so that was wicked O0

;D ive always wanted braces.. since I can remember! lol
Not sure what colours to get... I'm thinking Black and Red (my footy teams colours) but still not too sure ;D

er - why do you want braces? :-\

I'm not really sure... ive wanted them since I was little I guess just for the sake of having them ::)
But also because when they come off Ill have nice straight teeth :D

Make sure you get before and after shots, my kids were totally amazed :o

Some people almost didn't recognise Scott, he unfortunately had buckky teeth, they were awful poor kid :(

yer... mum got heaps... I saw the x-rays and I also have buck teeth :( but my front 2 sort of poke out :o it looked so weird! lol

You really wont believe the change it's awesom well worth the discomfort and the waiting time, that's the worst part the time from what the kids say.
And you must remember to wear the retainer after the braces come off as much as possible to keep them straight O0

Yer :P
Also... forgot to say it before... he said I have to have head gear! Ihave to wear it 12-14 hours per day... lucky I'm home schooled ;D when he said that I was like HUH! ;D
Lucky I dont have much of a social life at night time;D

I wonder if that is the neck/head brace B almost had.

Also meant to say my son noticed an effect on his speech - less clear - he had to try to enunciate more clearly.

I have taken before & after pics, my teeth weren't too bad but even now without them off the difference is outstanding!
I know about the sleepless thing - I didn't sleep the night before mine went on & I'm nearly 29!
I eat chewing gum - infact my ortho advised it because I was clenching my jaw & this kind of eased it a bit. As long as its sugar free you should be fine.
I have knocked off a couple of my brackets - the first was because I couldn't resist the crackling from a sunday roast & I just knocked it right off! The second just popped off while I was driving - didn't hurt but my friend actually heard it pop!
I would advise a couple the day before you get your brace EAT LOADS!
Then take a good pain killer 15 mins before you go in to have it put on.

O i wouldn't like to go to school with it on but i wouldn't mind at home, you get home schooled though :)

Retainer afterwards is important, iv lost mine at the moment but its probably under my mattress or at my friends house, oh no
