I have browsed through all the set-ups and i have to say... THEY ARE AMAZING! :) I noticed lots of you use fleece instead of sawdust in your cages and it must be SO much easier to clean! :)
Your guinea pigs must be litter trained then? Well my guinea pigs are almost 5 and i was wondering...if you can litter train piggies, am i able too or are my two too old now? I'm hoping to get pink fleece for their hutch if this is possible and it will fit! Can anyone let me know if it is possible to litter train 5 year old guinea pigs and how to do it? Thanks, Emma x

I have hay in my toilet boxes, and they gets used well - but so do any sleeping areas... and with seven piggies that's quite a few!

With that many, I do have to spot clean twice a day and change the cage every three days, or it gets very smelly! However, it is still a lot less messy to change than the old set-up.

A few of my boys are litter trained,i put the litter trays under they hay racks because the poo while eating,i also placed a few poo's in the litter to encourage them to go in there,a few poo's are ok but it needs to be cleaned daily,i use newspaper and hay, most pigs wont litter train but its worth a shot.
Most people on this forum dont use sawdust as its bad for there health,it can cause respiratory problems,it would be worth changing as many beddings are safer than sawdust.

My piggies are not toilet trained but they wee and poo while they eat so a lot of it gets in the hay bin in which I have a paper kitty litter. No smell! I've also realised that a large cage is actually easier to keep clean than a small one. I had 120x70 cm for three piggies before and had to do a full change of it every second or third day. Now that I have 140x200 cm I sweep up poo once or twice a day and change fleece and towels once a week.

Well my piggies are quite old and there's been no problems with sawdust...
Thanks anyway :)
